- National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET):
NEET is one of India’s most competitive admission tests. CBSE organizes this entrance test for admission to MBBS or BDS programmes in India. Candidates begin studying for the test after completing their tenth grade to get admission to medical or dental institutes accredited by the Medical Council of India or the Dental Council of India, all of which are part of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
Every year, the Medical Council of India (MCI) determines the syllabus for the NEET test, which includes questions from Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. Students can begin preparing for the NEET test alongside their normal school lessons by enrolling in online NEET tutoring.
- Joint Entrance Examination (JEE):
Students can prepare for JEE Main after finishing class ten. The National Testing Agency administers the national level engineering admission test, JEE Main, twice a year (in January and April). The entrance test is held online for individuals seeking admission to the IIIT, NIT, and other prestigious institutes.
Candidates who pass JEE Main are eligible to take JEE Advanced, the second part of the JEE, widely considered one of the most challenging undergraduate admission examinations globally. Students who pass the JEE Advanced become eligible for admission to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s, and Dual Degree programmes (entrance at the 10+2 level) at all 23 IITs. As a result, students who desire to pursue a career in engineering can begin JEE preparation after class ten.
- Kishore Vigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY):
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, abbreviated as KVPY, is an annual scholarship programme financed by the Government of India’s Department of Technology and Science. KVPY aims to inspire students to pursue a career in basic science research. Contingency and Scholarships are awarded to those who pass this skill exam (up to the pre PhD level).
Every year, KVPY is held to find and choose highly motivated and extraordinarily gifted students with remarkable cognitive processes and talents. The primary goal of this initiative is to find and nurture the brightest scientific brains in India for research and development. KVPY is an annual event created and hosted by the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) in Bangalore.
- Process of Examination and Selection: Candidates who match the qualifying requirements for the various streams will be summoned for an aptitude test, which will be held in both Hindi and English at different locations across the nation on the specified exam day.
Candidates will be called for the next step of the KVPY selection procedure based on their performance in the aptitude exam. The interview round will be held in the second stage. - National Talent Search Examination (NTSE):
The National Talent Search Exam (NTSE), formerly known as the NSTSS (National Science Talent Search Scheme), is a scholarship examination held on a national level to evaluate and improve students’ talents, logical thinking, and mental ability. The all-India competitive examination is held yearly for class 10 students in two stages: Stage 1 (State-Level) and Stage 2 (National-Level). If an applicant wants to be regarded for the scholarship, they must pass both tests.
Students can apply for the NTSE 2022 examination both online and offline. Students resident in India and those pursuing their studies in other nations are eligible for the NTSE. The primary goal of the NTSE test is to assess a certain set of competencies in students.
The Stage 1 examination is administered by NCERT or the same state authority as the Stage 2 test, which is administered at the national level by NCERT. Students who pass Stage 1 can take the Stage 2 test.
- Structure of the NTSE Exam: The paper is subdivided into two sections: SAT and MAT. The SAT and the MAT include 100 questions (Maths – 20, Science – 40, Social Science – 40). Both the MAT and the SAT last 120 minutes, or 2 hours. There are no negative markings. Candidates who pass both tests will be evaluated individually for merit. The candidate who is eligible for the scholarship will be chosen based on their cumulative MAT & SAT scores.
- Common Law Admission Test (CLAT):
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level entrance test for admission to 21 of India’s most prestigious national law colleges and other private universities. Those who pass the CLAT can apply for admission to 3-year/5-year Integrated LLB and LLM programmes.
The CLAT test is administered once a year by the National Law University (NLU) among the CLAT Committee’s 21 members. CLAT scores are utilized for admissions and recruitment by various private law institutions and public sector Undertakings.
Until 2018, CLAT was administered by NLUs on a rotating basis. However, beginning in 2019, the CLAT will be administered by a permanent entity called the “Consortium of NLUs,” which is made up of NLUs. The organization’s headquarters are at NLSIU in Bangalore.
- Undergraduate CLAT Eligibility: In CLAT 2022, there is no higher age limit for undergraduate programmes. In the case of applicants belonging to the General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI categories, candidates must achieve at least 45 percent marks or its equal grade in the 10+2 or its similar examination.
It is 40% for applicants belonging to the SC/ST category. Candidates who take the qualifying test in March/April 2022 are eligible to take the CLAT 2022 examination. They will, however, be asked to provide proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission.
- NSO (National Level Science Exam)
NSO is held yearly by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). It is a scholarship exam promoting scientific reasoning and logical aptitude among students from class 1 to class 12. Levels 1 and 2 of SOF NSO are held individually. Level 1 exams are given to all students in grades 1–12, and students who pass the level 1 exams (grades 3–12) are eligible to take the level 2 exams.
The National Science Olympiad (NSO) 2021 was successfully held on November 27, 28, December 11, 12, 18, and 19, 2021, by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). The SOF NSO test is given to students in grades one through twelve. SOF NSO 2021 registration will close 30 days before the exam’s start date. Students can sign up for it through their local schools. Every year, over 10 lakh students enrol for NSO.
- Criteria for NSO Eligibility in 2021: Students from grades 1st to 12th are eligible to compete in the 1st level Olympiad, according to NSO eligibility standards. There are no minimum marks necessary. Students in classes 1 and 2 are not obliged to take the NSO test at the second level and are rated based on their performance in the first level.
