What has changed is the exam format: NEET 2027 is set to move to Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, and Re-NEET 2026 already dropped the old optional-question structure in favour of 180 compulsory questions. Why the Syllabus Hasn't Changed, But Your Prep Should

NTA has confirmed no chapter additions or removals for the current NEET syllabus. But two structural changes affect how you should study it:

• All 180 questions are now compulsory. The National Medical Commission communicated this change to NTA in a letter dated December 5, 2025, eliminating the earlier Section A/Section B format (35 compulsory + 10-of-15 optional per subject) starting with NEET 2026. There's no "safety net" chapter you can skip anymore — every topic in the syllabus below can show up as a question you must attempt.
• NEET 2027 moves to CBT mode. The Education Ministry confirmed this on May 15, 2026, following the Radhakrishnan Committee's recommendations after the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. The syllabus and marking scheme are expected to stay the same — but practicing on a screen instead of an OMR sheet is a skill in itself. Build CBT-style mock tests into your revision from the start rather than switching formats a month before the exam.

NEET Syllabus 2027 for Biology

Biology carries 360 of the 720 total marks — the single highest-weightage subject in NEET, split evenly between Botany and Zoology.

Preparation tips for Biology: NCERT is non-negotiable here — the large majority of Biology questions are drawn directly from its text. Draw diagrams by hand rather than just reading them; it forces recall in a way passive reading doesn't. NEET Syllabus 2027 for Physics

Physics is widely considered the most challenging NEET section because of its numerical and application-based questions.

• Marking Scheme: +4 for correct, −1 for incorrect, 0 for unattempted
• Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes) is the standing rule following the Section B removal — shortened from the earlier 3 hours 20 minutes. Note that Re-NEET UG 2026 specifically ran for 3 hours 15 minutes, a one-time extension NTA granted for that sitting; whether NEET 2027 reverts to 3 hours flat or keeps the extension hasn't been confirmed yet.
• Exam Mode: NEET 2027 is expected to move to Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode — officially confirmed direction, NTA's operational bulletin still pending
