JEE Main 2026 Important Dates and Exam Schedule

Each year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the JEE Main, an engineering entrance exam for engineering candidates in India. Candidates who pass this exam get admission to prominent engineering colleges such as IITs, NITs, and CFTIs in Bachelor of Technology/B.E./B.Arch./B.Plan programs.

Steps to Fill in the JEE Main 2026 Application Form

To fill up the JEE Main 2026 application form in a hassle-free manner, candidates should follow the steps outlined below.

Step 1—Registration: Candidates must first register for JEE Main 2026 by providing basic information, including their phone number, email address, and name. In addition, candidates must create a password and answer security questions. Candidates will get a unique JEE Main 2026 application number after successful registration. The registration number should be saved because it will be used for all subsequent logins.

Step 2: Fill out the JEE Main application form. After getting an application number and password, candidates must log in to their account and fill out all required information.

Step 3: Upload the documents. In the specified format, all relevant documents must be uploaded

  • A scanned photograph of the applicant (Sizes range from 10 kb to 200 kb in JPG/JPEG)
  • Scanned Signature of the applicant (Sizes range from 4 kb to 30 kb in JPG/JPEG)
  • Admit card / Marksheet / Certificate for the 12th grade (Sizes range from 50 kb to 500 kb in JPG/JPEG format)

Step 4: Pay the application fee. Pay the application fee for the NTA JEE Main 2026 exam. To make a payment, choose debit card, credit card, net banking, etc., and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 5: Take a printout of the confirmation page. Finally, candidates should print out the submitted application form after making a successful payment.

On successful submission of the JEE application form, students receive messages to their registered email address and mobile number. Aspirants can know the status of their JEE application by logging into their candidate portal with their application number and password. Students can check the status of their completed JEE Main 2026 application to confirm that it has been submitted successfully. Once students log in, they will view the status of their application. On the screen, you'll see the status of your application as well as the status of your application fee payment.

JEE Main 2026 Syllabus

The National Testing Agency has released the JEE Main 2026 syllabus to inform the applicants about the topics they need to study throughout JEE Main preparation. The JEE Main syllabus includes topics and concepts on which the entrance exam will be based. The NTA JEE Main 2026 syllabus is centered on Classes 11 and 12 Maths, Physics, and Chemistry disciplines.

JEE Main 2026 Exam Pattern

Exam Pattern for JEE Main 2026, according to the JEE Main Marking Scheme:

  • For each correct response, you get 4 marks.
  • 1 mark negative marking for every incorrect response.
  • There will be no deductions for unattempted questions.
  • There will be no negative marking for responses based on numerical values.
     

Papers:

In JEE Main 2026, there will be two papers: Paper I, which is for B.E./B.Tech, and Paper II for B.Plan and B.Arch.

JEE Main 2026 Exam Mode

The JEE Main exam will be conducted in an online computer-based test. The drawing test for Paper 2 will be done in offline mode using a pen and paper.

Time allotted

Three hours will be allotted to complete the paper. One hour will be added to the time allotted to PWD candidates.

Types of Questions:

The exam will consist of objective-type questions. The nature of the drawing paper will be subjective.

Language:

Students can take the JEE Main Paper in a variety of languages. Hindi, English, Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Odia, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Punjabi, Urdu, and Telugu are the languages.

Total Questions:

Paper I (B.Tech/B.E.) will be of 90 questions; Paper II (B.Arch) will have 82 questions, and Paper IIB (B.Plan) will have 105 questions.

Paper Pattern:

(B.E./B.Tech) Paper I will be of 300 marks, whereas Paper IIA (B.Arch) and Paper IIB (B.Plan) will be of 400 marks altogether.
