    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The CBSE Class 12 Term-2 Board examinations are just on the way. The Term-2 exams will be conducted on the reduced 50% syllabus. Students are discussing the last-minute preparation tips, especially for complex subjects like Mathematics. This is because the pattern of the Mathematics exam is designed to assess the quantitative and reasoning abilities of the students. Such skills are also significant for competitive exams like JEE 2022, the olympiad, KVPY, and the NTSE exam.

Remarkably, the CBSE Class 12 Mathematics is a scoring subject. The only thing is that Mathematics calls for a deep understanding of the theoretical explanations and the applications of formulas. Class 12 Mathematics will become a very interesting subject for students if they understand the concepts well. The students must understand the fundamental Math concepts and practice them regularly. Also, the students can get the Class 12 Sample Paper and marking scheme and other notifications at the official website of CBSE.

Now, let us move on to the high-scoring chapters in Class 12 Mathematics.

High-Scoring Chapters in Class 12 Mathematics Term-2: Reviewing the Weightage

The foremost step that each student should take is to review the Syllabus of CBSE Class 12 Mathematics thoroughly.

The students should fix chapters as per priorities as per the weightage. While preparing for the high-scoring chapters in CBSE Class 12 Mathematics, extra efforts should be made.

Here is a tabulated review of the Units in the CBSE Class 12 Syllabus and their respective weightage of marks.

Unit No. Unit Name Marks Allocated
    III Calculus 18
IV Vector and Three-Dimensional Geometry 14
    V Probability 8
    Total 40

Concerning the difficult chapters, many students take the stress and skip them. Students should not skip any topic. Those students are not aware that they are letting go of the chances of scoring high in their Class 12 Mathematics exam. Reviewing the above table makes it clear that Unit-3: Calculus holds the highest weightage and is the most scoring unit, followed by Vector & Three-Dimensional Geometry and Probability.

The Chapters coming under these units are as follows:

    Unit 3: Calculus

    • Integrals
    • Applications of the Integrals
    • Differential Equations

Unit 4: Vector and Three-dimensional Geometry

    • Vectors
    • Three-dimensional Geometry

    Unit 5: Probability

    • Probability
    Key Takeaway:

Most complex chapters and topics reflect a considerable weightage in the exam. So, the students should never avoid those chapters in Mathematics that they find difficult to understand.

During the preparation for Mathematics, students should make a list of all the topics and concepts under each chapter. Also, they should categorise the topics to be completed in different categories as per their difficulty level. Then, priorities should be set to cover each topic gradually.

Pre-planning & Presentation are Significant to Scoring Good

Students should not forget that Presentation is important! It offers an additional advantage to the students.

The CBSE Class 12 Mathematics Term-2 question paper will have three sections. All the sections must be completed in two hours (i.e., 120 minutes). The students must divide their time wisely across the sections in the question paper. The students should allocate 30 minutes to Section A and 30 minutes to Section B. There should be 50 minutes for  Section C. Lastly, 10 minutes should be left for reviewing the answers at the end.

The students should devote the first fifteen minutes before the beginning of the exam to reading the question paper carefully up to the last. It is helpful to plan your paper-solving approach and mark the questions that seem doubtful to you.

Here is a glimpse of the marking scheme of the CBSE Class 12 Term 2 Mathematics Exam.

Section No. of Questions Type of Questions Marks  Sectional Total
    A 6 Short-Answer Type 1 2 12
    B 4 Short-Answer Type 2 3 12
    C 4 Long-Answer Type 4 16

Scoring appreciable marks in the Class 12 Mathematics board exam is not only about finding the correct answer. Reaching the right solution comprises a series of steps, and such steps are considered a crucial portion of analysing the final score. Hence, the students should write their answers or solutions properly in a step-wise approach. The presentation should be neat & systematic.

For Chapters like Integration, Probability, Vectors & 3D Geometry, students should make proper notes, clearly representing all formulas. Notably, the chapter – Application of the integrals can be difficult for some students. This chapter should be regularly practised, and its concepts should be revised every so often. Students should try to solve as many questions as they can for productive preparation for the CBSE Class 12 Mathematics Exam.

Students should solve the CBSE sample paper and past years’ question papers to analyse their position. They should identify the difficult questions while solving sample papers and regularly practice such questions. It will help them to gain holistic knowledge.

Upon completing the entire syllabus, the students must practice with mock exams with a real-time experience of the board exam to analyse how they are managing their time to solve the paper. This also helps the students to improve their weak areas.

    Conclusion

Mathematics is a subject that needs three things – practice, practice, and practice. The more a student will solve the problems, the more clearly they will comprehend the theories and applications of formulas. Effective preparation to score well in the CBSE Class 12 Mathematics Term-2 Exam is highly significant, especially when the students are pressured to perform well. The students can achieve a 50/50 score if they sincerely follow all the study tips and strategies, followed by a regular revision.

Also, the students have adequate time to study the difficult chapters and topics in Mathematics. They should put effort into solving all the solved examples and questions in the NCERT exercise. Consistent practice will let the students gain complete knowledge of a concept.
