The students were attending online classes throughout the lockdown. However, the session is now in its conclusion stage. Now, it is time for the exams! Recapitulation of the Blueprint of Assessment for Session 2021-22

CBSE implemented a significant revision in its examination scheme and decided to conduct the board exam in two portions. The syllabus will be divided according to a well-organized approach by considering the interconnectivity of topics. Exams will be conducted at the end of each term. The first portion was proposed to take place between Nov to Dec 2021, and the second portion was proposed to take place between Mar and Apr 2022.

    Fact to Consider

The first term exams were conducted in the decided duration, but the second term board exams are now postponed and will take place from Apr to Jun 2022.

No overlapping of the syllabus will be there as each term has its syllabus apportioned. Notably, the final marks will be awarded according to the students’ academic performance in both terms. The CBSE officials announced that the decision on Term-2 board exams would be as per the new assessment system of the board. For the ongoing academic session 2021-22, the board will organise the first-term exams as objective exams, but the second-term exams will be subjective.

As the pandemic situation across the country got better, the CBSE conducted the Term-1 exam in Nov-Dec. According to the guidelines released by CBSE, the Term-1 exams were organised in a flexible schedule for which a window period of around 1 month (8 weeks) was declared, i.e. from Nov 2021 to Dec 2021. The Term-1 question paper comprised MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions).

There were direct, case-based, and assertion-reasoning type MCQs. The exam was conducted for 90 minutes (i.e.,1½ hour), and it covered only the justified syllabus of Class 12th, which was approximately 50% of the entire syllabus of Class 12th. The schools received the question papers for the first term exam from the CBSE board and the marking scheme. The students filled their answers in OMR sheets, which were uploaded on the CBSE portals by the schools. Notably, CBSE had appointed superintendents and observers to supervise the exams.

Now, students are waiting for the Term-2 exam that was postponed. The Term-2 exam will start in April instead of March. The CBSE will organise the Term-2 exam for 120 minutes (i.e., 2 hours). Notably, the question paper will solely comprise subjective questions of different formats.

Key Dates for CBSE Class 12th Term-2 Exams

All the students must know that the Class 12th CBSE board exams will start from April last week, precisely from the 26th of April. The board ideally schedules the exam timetable. Between all the subjects, the board has allotted adequate gaps for the students to prepare well for it. There is no pressure of continuous exams, one after another in a row.

    Key Takeaway:

The students can prepare beforehand for the subjects having a shorter gap along with the subjects that have longer gaps between them & their successive exam dates.

E.g., If there is a seven-day study gap for subject A and after that, there is just a two-day gap for subject B, the student can prepare for that subject B with upcoming subject A in that seven-day gap. So that there will be proper time management and the student will get enough time to prepare well for all subjects.

The NEET Exam and JEE Main Exam are scheduled after the board exams, so the students will not have to worry about any clashes with the exam. The board exams of various subjects will be conducted on their respective dates from morning 10:30 am. Although the students will be confronted with high summer heat during the April to June duration of boards; the exam dates are fixed in sync with other 26 countries where education is offered in affiliation with the CBSE board.

The Exam Pattern of CBSE Class 12th Exam 2022

To prepare well for the board exams, the students must know the CBSE 12th 2022 syllabus and exam pattern. Understanding the exam pattern of CBSE facilitates a student to do the preparations for CBSE 12th exams 2022 efficiently. It makes the students aware of the vital aspects of the exam.

The paper will be subjective. There will be a 2-hour duration of the exam. It will consist of questions in different formats, i.e., open-ended questions – short answer & long answer types, case-based questions, and situation-based questions. No objective-type questions will be there in the Class 12th Term 2 exam.

Notably, the Class 12th board exam questions will be based on their course textbooks. The students are advised to study the NCERT book thoroughly as the questions will be direct or application-based on the concepts of those books. Gain access to NCERT Solutions for Class 12.

Review of the Minimum Qualifying Marks

The minimum limit to pass the board exam for any subject is to obtain a minimum score of 33%. Also, to pass the board exams on an overall basis, an aggregate score of a minimum of 33% is mandatory. So, candidates have to pass all subjects for passing the boards.

Also, the CBSE board calculates the combined score of practical and theory marks in a particular subject. The sum of both must result in higher than 33%. (Note: Internal evaluation is also considered in the aggregate as the case may be).

    Conclusion

With the time flying rapidly, only a one-month duration is left now for the CBSE Class 12th Term-2 exams. Scoring decent marks in the board exam is not a highly challenging goal for a student who follows a proper study approach. By now, the students must have finished their exhaustive studies. Now, the students should only do the revision and light practice drills.

They should go through their notes to revise the important concepts daily. The students can also solve the mock test papers and previous year’s sample papers to check their preparation level and learn time management while solving the question paper. So, hurry!
