The Indian Institute of Technology is amongst the most popular engineering colleges that offer undergraduate, post-graduate, and doctoral engineering programs. In total, there are 16 IIT colleges in India. Initially, there were only 8 IIT colleges in India but in the past 4-5 years, the Indian Government has established a few more IIT colleges to provide quality education. However, the one in Kharagpur is considered to be the best of all. Students can get seats in these IIT Colleges through the competing Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).

Founded in 1951, this institute has been the major leader in some of the best educational activities. Some of the engineering toppers are lecturers in the college, and that is what makes the institution at the top of the list.

Frequently Asked Questions about Best Engineering Colleges in India

    1. Does Government Engineering College Play an Important Role in Deciding Your Career?

It would not be right to say that when it comes to deciding your future in engineering, the institute from which you pass plays an important role.

However, on the other hand, it would be wrong to say that an institution does not have any role at all because it is mostly in this case that we see the entire formulation of an engineer takes place. A student learns the basics of the field based on the course structure and the faculty.

    2. Does Government Engineering Colleges provide placements?

During the time of placements, the institution itself ties up with various organizations and provides an in-campus hiring procedure where the students are given job roles depending on their performance in the exams. These placements ensure that the students get the right job opportunities. However, in most cases, the government engineering colleges in India do not provide very promising placements. However, if you or someone who is not bothered about the campus placement & wants to focus on acquiring good knowledge, then studying at a government institution could be the best for you.

    3. Is IIT Government or Private?

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are central government-owned public technical institutes located across India. They are under the ownership of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

    4. How many NIT are there in India?

In total, there are 31 NITs in India. They are categorized under autonomous public institutions for higher education in India.

    5. Does 12th Class Marks Matter in IIT?

Students should know that their ranks will be determined based on their scores in the entrance exam. However, for admission into IITs, NITs, and CFTIs the score that candidates have secured in their class 12 board exam will also be taken into account.
