The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is a public research university located in Delhi, India. Educational programmes in this college extend into humanities and social sciences such as Economics, English, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology and into management studies.
3. Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur
IIT Kharagpur was established in 1951 by the Government of India and was the first Indian Institute of Technology. Out of all the IITs, IIT Kharagpur has the largest campus, maximum departments and the highest student enrolment. It is also known for its college festivals like the Spring Fest (Social and Cultural Festival) and Kshitij (Asia’s largest Techno-Management Festival).
4. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras
IIT Madras is an autonomous public engineering and research institution located in Chennai. It is the third Indian Institute of Technology that was established by the Government of India to provide education and research facilities in engineering and technology. IIT Madras offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees across 16 disciplines in Engineering, Sciences, Humanities and Management.
5. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur
IIT Kanpur was established in 1959 and was the first institute in India to offer Computer Science education. It’s one of the first Indian Institutes of Technology and was declared as the Institute of National Importance by Government of India under IIT Act.
6. Indian Institute of Technology BHU, Varanasi
IIT BHU was first known as Banaras Hindu University and was the first Indian university to introduce the study of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. IIT BHU offers 4 year programmes each for both, the degree of Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and the degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm). It has 17 academic units including 10 Engineering Departments, 3 Science Departments, 3 Interdisciplinary Schools and 1 Humanities and Social Science section.
7. Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences, Pilani
BITS, Pilani was established in its present form in 1964. It has 15 academic departments and mainly focuses on undergraduate education in engineering and sciences. It’s also considered as the best private engineering institute of India. Admission for BITS is merit based according to the result in the BITSAT examination.
8. Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati
IIT, Guwahati is the sixth member of the IIT fraternity and was established in 1994. This institute has 11 departments and 3 inter-disciplinary academic centres covering Engineering, Science and Humanities departments offering B.Tech, B.Des, M.A, M.Des, M.Tech, M.Sc and Ph.D. programmes. It has world class infrastructure for carrying out advanced research with state of the art scientific and engineering equipment.
9. National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli
NITT offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Engineering, Science, Architecture and Management. The institute awards Bachelor of Technology degrees in nine engineering disciplines as well as the B.Arch. degree through its architecture program. Admission to these programs is through merit list prepared by giving 60% weightage to IIT-JEE Main Exam score and 40% weightage to marks scored in class 12.
10. National Institute of Technology, Karnataka
The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) is a public engineering college at Surathkal. Admission in NITK is through the JEE (Mains) test, and ranks are based on 60% of the marks scored in the test, and 40% in the class 12/Second PU Board exams. It is famous for its annual events like ‘Engineer’, which is an annual technical symposium and ‘Incident’, which is a cultural fest.
