Why is studying Physics important for NEET 2022?

Candidates often focus on Chemistry and Biology during their NEET preparation. Owing to lower weightage and high difficulty levels, they tend to ignore Physics upto the last moment. This decreases their overall NEET score as they find it very hard to solve numerical-based Physics questions in the paper without adequate preparation. Scoring well in Biology and chemistry is not enough to secure an MBBS seat. It can help them crack the exam but not get an entry into a top medical college. Therefore, to be a top-rank holder in the NEET UG 2022 Exam, candidates must master Physics and its concepts.

How to prepare for NEET Physics 2022 Exam?

    • Let go of the fear: Before preparing for Physics, candidates should let go of the thought that Physics is a difficult subject. They should acknowledge that no subject is difficult if one works diligently towards clearing its concepts. Physics is a very scoring subject. Covering 70% of the Physics NEET 2022 Syllabus can help candidates score at least 100 marks from the Physics section of the NEET paper, significantly increasing their overall score. It is said that the NEET Biology score determines the selection of a candidate, and the Physics and Chemistry scores determine the rank.
    • Organise the syllabus systematically: There are 29 chapters to study for NEET Physics Syllabus from Class 11 and Class 12 NCERT books. Prepare a list of all the topics you need to study for Physics. Similarly, you can write all the formulas in a chart while going through the topics. Having a list of everything you need to study at your access will help you avoid procrastination and stay accountable for your actions. You will be continuously thinning on the concepts you need to clarify. You can check the NCERT syllabus for both classes here NCERT Solutions for Class 11 Physics and NCERT Solutions for Class 12 Physics.
    • Study the high-weightage chapters first: NEET Physics preparation will be much easier for the students if they study in a planned and strategic way. After making a list of all the chapters in the syllabus, they should divide them based on weightage. If you want access to the NEET Syllabus, please check NEET Syllabus. Target the high-weightage chapters first, as those will help fetch maximum marks in the NEET exam. Targeting the parts of the syllabus strategically will help the students to prepare themselves mentally and alleviate any exam anxiety.
    • Follow a timetable: Students should construct a timetable and follow it religiously to make productive use of their time and ensure that they finish all parts of the NEET Physics syllabus on time. All the topics of the syllabus should be distributed in the timetable to be finished within a set time. Enough time should be left at the end for revising the concepts and solving previous years’ question papers.
    • Work on your concepts: One of the reasons most students fail to prepare for Physics effectively is a lack of understanding of the fundamental mathematical concepts, which are indispensable for a good understanding of Physics concepts. Understanding and practising questions from basics of mathematics like trigonometry, differentiation, integration, and application of identities before practising Physics questions for NEET would be helpful. Conceptual clarity can be built by studying Class 11 and 12 NCERT textbooks, an integral part of the NEET Physics syllabus. If students are not well-versed with the concepts and their applications, solving numerical-based questions in the paper will be a nightmare.
    • Interlink the concepts: Almost all Physics concepts are interlinked to each other. The connections have been presented in the NCERT textbooks most comprehensively. While going through the textbooks, students should ensure that they understand the connections and integrate the concepts. Doing slow will bring a flow in their understanding, and they will be able to relate to what they are reading on a deeper level. This strategy will help students with their Physics preparation while preparing for other subjects.
    • Memorise the formulas thoroughly: Memorising the formulas and understanding their application in solving numerical-based problems is of great importance when preparing for Physics. The best way to ensure the formulas are retained in the brain is to write them down on a chart and paste it onto a wall or the study table. The more the students see them, the more are the chances of remembering them and recalling them easily in the exam.

    • Understand the questions: Candidates need to understand the difficulty level and the pattern of the questions asked in the NEET Physics paper. The Physics section of the NEET paper includes questions of moderate to easy difficulty level, unlike questions asked in undergraduate engineering exams, which are comparatively harder. Understanding the NEET 2022 Exam Pattern gives students an edge to prepare more efficiently for the exam. To be able to solve Physics questions, candidates should thoroughly go through the basics of NCERT books, NEET Previous Year Questions, and formulas.
    • Maintain a good set of notes: Having a good set of notes is important for good exam preparation. While revising, it is not possible to go back to all the books students studied during the course of their preparation. It is much easier to have it all in a single reliable set of notes for quick referral.
    • Practise NEET Previous Year Question Papers: After students have completed a good chunk of the Physics syllabus and understood most of the concepts, they should focus on practising as many concepts based questions as possible. They can start by solving NEET Previous Year Question Papers. If solving them on the first go seems difficult, they should not lose hope. Practice, over time, will make it easier. It is advisable to solve at least the previous five years’ question papers to get a good hold on the problem-solving aspects of the preparation. After they are done solving the previous year’s question papers, students can move on to solving questions from reference books and other academic sources.
    • Attend mock tests: Mock tests simulate the main exam’s time, duration, and paper pattern. Students who attend a lot of mock tests have higher chances of cracking the NEET exam. This is because they are more familiar with the paper pattern and are confident to face the man paper. After sitting for many mock exams, the main exam just feels like another mock exam. This helps alleviate exam-related anxiety and apprehension. Solving mock tests also help students to learn time management skills which are very important for solving the NEET Physics question paper. If you want access to good quality NEET Mock Tests 2022, you can check NEET Mock Tests.
    • Ensure effective revisions: Students often face a situation where they study a topic and forget it within a few days. Studying a topic for the first time creates a short-term memory of it that is susceptible to being forgotten. Studying the same topic repeatedly converts the short-term memory on it into long-term memory, which is easier to recall and less susceptible to being forgotten. This is why most mention in their interviews that they revise the course material multiple times. Having mastered the art of studying, they know the right strategies to follow to score high in the exam.
    • Do not study everything: Studying smart is as important as studying hard when preparing for competitive examinations. With a vast range of syllabi and limited time, it might not be possible for students to cover each and every topic of the syllabus. In such a situation, the focus should be on scoring as many marks as possible by adopting smart strategies. This can be achieved by carefully analysing the previous years’ papers and getting acquainted with the most important parts of the NEET 2022 Syllabus. After that, an adequate number of questions should be practised from those parts to get a good hold on them.

    FAQs

    1. Is NEET Physics easy?

Physics is a relatively complex subject owing to a vast range of fundamental concepts, and formulas students need to study to master the subject. They need to understand the concepts on a fundamental level to be able to solve numerical-based questions related to them. They also need to prepare charts and use memory aids for memorising formulas and fact-based information. However, if the students start preparing early and use the right resources, they will find Physics easy. The main study material for NEET Physics is the 11th and 12th class NCERT textbooks. Some other reference books may also be consulted for hard to understand topics. Preparing a timetable and following a set study schedule will help the students to narrow the gap between their doubts and a clear understanding of the concepts.

    2. Is it possible to get 170 marks in NEET Physics?

Physics is a relatively challenging subject, but following the right strategies will help students score more than 170 marks in Physics. Here are some tips that students can follow to obtain a maximum score on NEET Physics paper:

    • Follow a set timetable: Evaluate the entire syllabus and distribute it in your timetable to be completed over a period of time. Ensure that you complete your day’s target. Should you fail to do so, make it a point to compensate for the loss on the next day or over the subsequent days.
    • Study every day: If you study every day, you can only afford the time to understand the concepts from a basic level and practise questions related to them. Procrastination and wasting time will not lead you anywhere worth going
    • Make a chart of all the formulas: Finding it hard to memorise all the formulas? We have a solution for you! Please list all the important high-yielding formulas on a chart and stick it on a wall that you see frequently. Have a look at the chart every day. You will form a photographic memory of the formulas this way and will be able to recall those in the exam hall easily
    • Attend mock tests and solve previous year’s question papers: Practising many questions is most important for Physics. The more questions you practise, the more confident you will be to solve questions in the main paper and the higher you will be able to score.
    • Work on your Maths concepts: Have you ever noticed that the students who are good at Maths are generally good at Physics too? Well, this is because Physics concepts are closely related to those of Maths. So, if you work on strengthening your Maths, you will notice that you are being able to do better in physics too

    3. Is NCERT enough for Physics?

Studying NCERT textbooks is enough for Biology and enough for Chemistry to some extent. But, Physics is a challenging subject that contains a vast range of difficult concepts that need a thorough and deep understanding. So, studying NCERT is not enough for Physics. It would help if you referred to additional reference books and your coaching notes to get your concept right. However, studying NCERT solutions is also important for NEET Physics.

    4. How many hours per day should I study Physics for NEET?

There is no set number of hours you should study to get a good score in NEET Physics. The number of hours you must study for every day depends on how much of the syllabus you have completed by far, how much is left, and how much time is left for the exam.
