CBSE Class 10 English Exam Paper Analysis: Overview
- The questions were as per the pattern shared by CBSE in Sample Paper for Term-II Board Exams
- The first section of Reading Comprehension carried two passages with 9 Direct Information-based VSAs and 2 vocabulary-based questions. There was only 1 data-interpretation-based question asked in the Case-study based passage.
- The writing & grammar section carried a pie-chart-based analytical paragraph, a letter of placing an order, one editing question, and one question based on reported speech. The students found the grammar section quite simple and easy to attempt.
- In the literature section, the short answers were quite direct in nature, mostly similar to previous years’ board exam papers. The three long answers carried one a diary entry based question from ‘Madam Rides the Bus’, one character-sketch based question from ‘The Proposal’, and one thematic question from ‘Bholi’.
Overall, the students were quite satisfied with the Term-II paper in comparison to Term-I. The paper did not have any ambiguity or confusing questions. All those students who had revised their NCERT texts thoroughly would be able to easily score above 90%, keeping a check on their expression and accuracy while writing answers.
