“If I were again beginning my studies, I would follow the advice of Plato and start with mathematics.” Galileo Galilei
Mathematics is undeniably the most important subject in JEE. One needs to have a robust plan for mathematics throughout their IIT JEE preparation to master all the concepts and formulas. Many students love studying mathematics; however, there are others who have a hard time understanding even the easiest of all concepts. Though there are no shortcuts to obtaining a good score in mathematics, there indeed are a few methods that will make anyone master the concepts with ease.
So, if you want to give your IIT JEE preparation a push by mastering mathematics, you are at the right place.
Few techniques will help you Fight your Phobia of Mathematics and Ace JEE 2019 with Flying Colors.
Focus on Your Goal
The most imperative thing that you need to know is your goal. You should have a clear goal in your mind, so you can follow it and aim towards achieving it. For example, do you just want a qualifying rank or wish to be among the toppers? Answer this question and work towards achieving the decision you make.
Don’t Run Away from Practicing
Remember, math cannot be mastered without practice. You must roll up your sleeves and solve problems given at the end of each chapter. The more you get acquainted with the strategies that come in handy while solving problems, the better you become with math. Each section and its questions have their own characteristics, and it is important to practice them as many times as possible. There is no escape to practice if you really want to ace JEE.
Pay Attention in the Class
No matter what study mode you choose to prepare for JEE, it is imperative to pay attention while the faculty is explaining the concepts or how to solve an equation. Remember, you cannot kill your phobia for math until you do not pay attention to the faculty. Also, don’t just passively listen to the faculty and miss anything that they write on the board. Furthermore, not everything that the faculty explains will be there on the board, so be sure of being active while in the class. This rule implies for both traditional coaching and live interactive classes.
Go from Easy to Difficult
Always start from chapters that are easier to understand and solve. Also, refrain from jumping to the difficult ones immediately after a simple chapter. The immediate switch is likely to take down your confidence if you are not able to solve the problems as effectively as in the previous chapters. So, the trick here is to work yourself up to the complicated and difficult chapters slowly.
Never Hesitate from Asking Questions
Not all students have a similar understanding capability. So, even if you are the only one in the class who did not understand the concept/formula explained, do not hesitate from raising your doubts. You are preparing for one of the hardest competitive exams and any doubt that you do not resolve may cost you important marks. You may also seek help from your classmates and parents.
Revise and Review Notes Everyday
Every day after the class is over, make a habit of reviewing and revising notes. Doing this, you will never forget what was being taught and will be able to feel more confident in the next class. Without having a proper understanding of what was taught today, you would never be able to understand things that will be taught ahead. Also, it is easier to solve problems the day you learned about them instead of pushing them for weeks later.
Create a Distraction-Free Environment
Remember, practicing math requires a great deal of concentration, and in an environment that is packed with distractions, you will not be able to focus well. Moreover, when we say distraction, it can be anything. From not finding a pen to getting hungry or scrolling social media pages, anything can cause a distraction. So, when you revise and review notes, be sure of having all the supplies in place. Make a checklist and then start studying.
With all these tips combined, you can easily fight your phobia for mathematics and work towards scoring well. So, be sure of inculcating these tips with your IIT JEE preparation to pass with flying colours.
