Getting familiar with the syllabus and marking scheme

The first and foremost thing the students need to know is the syllabus of Class 10 Science and how the marks are being distributed. It would give them an overall understanding of the subject and the topics the students are about to study. After looking at the syllabus, the students should make detailed scheduling of what and when to study. They have to stick to it until the end of the examination.

Go through NCERT Solutions for Class 10 for better understanding.

    Study schedule

As specified earlier, after making the schedule, they have to start preparing it straightaway. This timeline might be based on any format. For example, separating topics based on their difficulty level or the level of connectivity or continuity to other topics would be beneficial in many possible ways. It will save a lot of time while switching between topics as they already know what to study next. So, there is no time-wasting thinking about it.

Moreover, being well organised will improve the productivity of the students and enhance their confidence level because they could realise how much they have learned and how much is left to study.

In addition to this, the students should cover the important topics in their study phase and not lose focus. They can cover the least important ones at the end when they have time.

    Following appropriate reference books

Firstly, the students should start preparing with NCERT Science books before anything else. Apart from that, the following are some of the best reference books for Class 10 Science:

    Reference books Publication
Science – Textbook for Class X NCERT
Laboratory Manual – Science Class X NCERT
Practical Skills Assessment in Science – Class X CBSE
Science for Class 10: Chemistry Lakhmir Singh and Manjit Kaur
Science for Class 10: Physics Lakhmir Singh and Manjit Kaur
Biology for Class 10 Lakhmir Singh and Manjit Kaur

    Performing practice tests

After understating the syllabus of CBSE Class 10 Science, exam patterns and mark distribution, the students are advised to solve previous years’ question papers. It will give them an overall idea of all the commonly asked questions.

Apart from that, they should also attempt mock tests and full-length tests where they will get used to the timing of the examination. With the help of these tests, the students can calculate how much time they need in each section and help students achieve more marks since they are well-prepared.

    Don’t lose focus!

The Class 10 Science students should follow the following steps in order not to lose focus while in their preparation phase:

    • The Class 10 students should have to look for a quiet place to study, where there will be no disturbances from anyone or anything. The surroundings must be clean and tidy, which would create a positive mindset.
    • There should be no distractions. Even when something is capable of reducing the students’ focus, measures should be taken to avoid them.
    • An efficient way of studying would be taking a considerable amount of breaks in-between. For example, the students can study for 20 minutes straight and then take a 5-minute break, which will help improve their focus and refresh their memory.
    • The CBSE Science students should avoid using mobile phones in-between their studies because it will drain their memory and make them mentally tired.
    • Last but not least, the students are advised not to take the preparation too seriously. For instance, there is no need to study late at night, which will be less effective and is also not good for health.

    Taking notes

It is a good habit to note down the important events or keywords while being taught. Taking notes has a huge impact on the students’ memory power. Moreover, while revising later, it is much simpler to do it from the short notes instead of going through the whole book again, which will waste the students’ precious time and make them tired.

While taking notes, the Class 10 students can use many techniques such as marking down the keywords or highlighting them using a different colour. In addition to this, they can also use bullet points to note down the concepts in a structural and organised way.

    Consecutive revisions

In Class 10 Science, one of the inevitable things a student should follow to obtain more marks is a frequent revision of concepts. It will help students remember the topics for a longer period. The students should keep on revising the important points, facts and formulae.

Revisions can also be in the form of tests such as revision tests or short tests. It can contain only a specific set of topics to make the students realise in which areas they need more practice.

Revisions are very helpful in the last few days of the preparation phase for the students.

    Maintaining fitness

The one thing the students should not compromise is their sleeping schedule. A good sleeping schedule would be at least 7 to 9 hours. The students should try to sleep early and wake up early. They should not be awake more than 11 pm and should be able to wake up at 6 am. Studying in the early morning is much more efficient than studying late.

Furthermore, the students should follow a daily exercise and diet routine to keep them in shape. They should eat fruits every day and avoid the intake of fast food. The students should perform regular exercises such as jogging, walking, meditation or yoga. They can do this for as little as 10 minutes a day, which would major impact their health.

CBSE Class 10 – Biology preparation tips

The following are some of the tips and tricks specifically for the Biology module in Science:

    • In the Biology section, the students should be aware that there are a lot of theoretical terminologies to memorise.

    • Please read the chapter’ Carbon and its compounds’ thoroughly.
    • Make short notes of keywords and formulae along with the compound names. It will be very much useful in the time of revision.
    • Furthermore, keep practising the numerical and name reactions, which will help them solve precisely in the examination.

CBSE Class 10 – Physics preparation tips

To achieve maximum marks, the students should follow the below-specified strategies:

    • The CBSE students should start by practising as many formulae, numerical and theorems as possible.
    • They should practice previous years’ question papers and solve as many mock tests as possible.
    • The ray diagrams from the light chapter are important.

    Conclusion

Nothing is impossible if you put a considerable amount of work into it. Likewise, while preparing for the CBSE 10th board exam, the students will face many struggles during their path towards success, which is obtaining good marks on boards. But to overcome all that, they should have a strong mental ability and physical control and should put in a good amount of effort in their studies. The students need not necessarily have to study too hard; instead, study smart, make a schedule and stick to it and make corrections wherever they are making mistakes.
