NEET exam comprises Physics, Chemistry, and Biology sections. Among the three, the overpowered section by its weightage is Biology. So, most students give preference to it. But, do not forget that without Physics and Chemistry, you cannot qualify for the NEET 2022.
Many of you may be afraid of Chemistry, as it is a complete concept based and contains very few numerical parts. But, if you draw some strategy like linking the concepts of one topic with another, then you will find it a very easy-going section in the NEET 2022 exam paper.
This article contains the most common and important questions of Chemistry for NEET previous year question papers. Have a look.
Previous Years’ Important Questions of NEET Chemistry With Solutions
Here are some important questions from the last three previous years’ papers for the NEET exam. Some of them are repeated but in a tricky way.
1. Which one of the following ions exhibits d-d transitions?
- CrO4-2
- Cr2O7-2
- MnO4-2
- MnO4–
The correct option is (c).
In MnO4-2, the oxidation state of Mn is (+6). As a result, it has one unpaired electron in its d-orbit. Hence, it will exhibit paramagnetic behaviour. And also shows the d-d transition.
2. Hydrocarbon (A) reacts with bromine. It forms an alkyl bromide on substitution, converted to a gaseous hydrocarbon by the Wurtz reaction. This hydrocarbon contains less than four carbon atoms. (A) is
- CH4
- CH CH
- CH3 – CH3
- CH2 = CH2
The correct option is (a).
Methane (CH4) undergoes a substitution reaction to form ethyl bromide, which further undergoes a Wurtz reaction to form ethane.
3. When the initial concentration of the reactant is doubled, the half period of the zero-order reaction is
- tripled
- halved
- doubled
- remains the same
The correct option is (c).
The half-life period of the zero-order reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of the reactant. Therefore, if the concentration of the reactant is doubled, the half-life period will also get doubled.
4. Which one of the following conditions will follow the maximum formation of the product in the reaction,
A2 (g) + B2 (g) ⇋ X2 (g) fH = -X kJ?
- High temperature and low pressure
- Low pressure and high temperature
- High temperature and high pressure
- Low temperature and low-pressure
The correct option is (b).
Exothermic reactions are best carried out at low temperatures and high pressures so that the equilibrium is shifted in the forward direction.

5. The difference between Amylose and Amylopectin is
- Amylose is made up of galactose and glucose.
- Amylopectin has 1 → 4 -linkage and 1 6 -linkage
- Amylopectin has 1 → 4 -linkage and 1 6 -linkage
- Amylose has 1 → 4 -linkage and 1 6 -linkage
The correct option is (c).
Amylose is a less branched chain of 1 → 4 glycosidic linkages, whereas Amylopectin is heavily branched and contains 1 → 4 glycosidic linkages and 1 → 4 glycosidic linkages.
6. For the redox reaction,
MnO4– + H+ + C2O42- → Mn2+ + H2O + CO2
the correct coefficient of the reactants for this balanced reaction is:
MnO4– | C2O42- | H+ | |
(a) | 5 | 16 | 2 |
(b) | 16 | 5 | 2 |
(c) | 2 | 16 | 5 |
(d) | 2 | 5 | 16 |
The correct option is (d).
KMnO4 acts as an oxidising agent in an acidic medium, and its n factor is 5, while the n factor of oxalate ion is 2.

- 42 x 288 pm
The correct option is (a).
In a bcc unit cell, atoms lying along with a diagonal body touch each other.
Length of body diagonal = 3a
3a = 4r
r = 34 a
As a = 288 pm
r = 34 x 288 pm
9. Reaction between methyl magnesium chloride and acetone followed by hydrolysis will give:
- Isopropyl alcohol
- Secondary butyl alcohol
- Isobutyl alcohol
- Tertiary butyl alcohol
The correct option is (d).
10. The calculated spin only magnetic moment of Cr2+ ion is:
- 4.90 BM
- 5.92 BM
- 3.87 BM
- 2.84 BM
The correct option is (a).
Electronic configuration of Cr = [Ar] 3d5 4s1
Electronic configuration of Cr2+ = [Ar] 3d4
Number of unpaired electrons = 4
Spin only magnetic moment, = n (n+2) BM
As n = 4
= 4 (4+2) BM
= 4.90 BM

- SCN– < F– < C2O42- < CN–
- SCN– < F– < CN– < C2O42-
- F– < SCN– < C2O42- < CN–
- CN– < C2O42- < SCN– < F–
The correct option is (a).
The arrangement of different ligands in increasing order of the field strength, called spectrochemical series, is as follows:

- rH < 0 and rS > 0
- rH < 0 and rS < 0
The correct option is (d).
2Cl (g) → Cl2 (g)
As the process involves bond formation, H = -ve and as the number of gaseous particles decreases in the reaction, S is also -ve, i.e., rH < 0 and rS < 0.
14. For any reaction A → B, the enthalpy of reaction is -4.2 kJ mol-1, and the activation enthalpy is 9.6 kJ mol-1. The correct potential energy outline for the reaction is shown in the option
The correct option is (b).

4. Is it possible to get repeated questions from previous years’ papers in the Chemistry section of the NEET 2022 exam?
No one can provide you with a definite answer to this question except the person who designed the NEET 2022 question paper. But, yes, it is possible that you can face a few repeated questions. In actuality, if there is any repeated question in the NEET set, most students remain unaware of this thing. It is because the examiner changes the pattern of the question and makes it more tricky than the previous one. The main motive behind this is to check the problem-solving skills.
