NEET 2022 is a common entrance examination for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS in all medical institutes in India, as per the NMC Act of 2019. The NEET 2022 Syllabus was developed using MCI guidelines. The exam consists of three parts: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The exam takes three hours to complete and consists of 180 questions. According to the reports, the registration form for NEET 2022 will be released in April, with the exam taking place in July. Annually, nearly 15 lakh applicants take the NEET examination. The NEET 2022 Exam Schedule will be released shortly. However, there will be no upper age limit for taking the test beginning this year.

    NEET 2022 Exam pattern

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has stated the NEET 2022 exam pattern for all qualified applicants. According to the most recent exam pattern, the exam will last 200 minutes (03:20 hours). There will be 200 questions, with students having to answer 180 of them. According to the NEET syllabus, the entrance exam will be conducted in pen and paper mode, with applicants answering Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. According to the official NEET 2022 marking structure, a right answer is worth four points, whereas an incorrect answer leads to one point deduction. NEET question papers include questions from the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology curricula for students in grades 11 and 12.

The marks distribution is as follows:

Subject Section Total Number of Questions Marks
    Chemistry A 35 140
    B 15 40
    Physics A 35 140
    B 15 40
    Zoology A 35 140
    B 15 40
    Botany A 35 140
    B 15 40

    Tips for Chemistry preparation 2022

One of the easiest and highest-scoring sections of the NEET exam in Chemistry. Candidates’ NEET 2022 marks can be significantly improved by scoring properly in the Chemistry portion. As a result, books are quite important and can have a significant impact on an aspirant’s preparation. If studied from the correct reference book, each part of Chemistry can significantly improve NEET scores.

    Books prescribed

    • Chemistry textbook for Class 11th and 12th by NCERT
    • Modern’s ABC of Chemistry for Class 11 & Class 12
    • Dinesh Publications Chemistry Cracker
    • Elementary Problems in Organic Chemistry for NEET/AIIMS by M S Chauhan
    • Organic Chemistry by Himanshu Pandey
    • Organic Chemistry by Solomon and Fryhle
    • Organic Chemistry by Morrison & Boyd
    • Physical Chemistry by O.P Tandon
    • Numerical Chemistry by P. Bahadur
    • Modern Approach to Chemical Calculations by RC Mukherjee
    • Inorganic Chemistry by Vishal Joshi
    • Concise Inorganic Chemistry by J.D Lee

    Tips for preparation

    1. The candidates must first understand the exam’s structure and pattern. This will assist them in strategising and scheduling their preparation depending upon the complexity of each subject and their areas of weakness.
    2. Set a target for yourself to finish a few topics each day, and attempt to finish them as soon as possible. This will enhance your motivation and morale.
    3. To begin, learn the fundamentals. The NCERT textbooks serve as the foundation for studying for the NEET exam. So, first and foremost, concentrate on finishing the NCERT books.
    4. It is critical to have a well-planned schedule. An applicant must create one and adhere to it religiously from the start.
    5. Make daily short notes of the key themes. This will assist you in grasping the concepts covered so far.
    6. The most crucial part is revision. Addressing all topics without revising is not optimal due to the nature of the subject. Revision regularly can create a significant effect.
    7. Examining past years’ papers is the best way to gauge your readiness. Keep track of the amount of time it takes you to finish the paper. It allows you to quickly discern which questions are easy to answer and which demand more time.

    Section-wise strategy

Organic Chemistry – Organic chemistry is a branch of chemistry that studies carbon-based molecules. Organic Chemistry is worth roughly 34% of the total amount of questions on the NEET. Students must extensively read the NCERT books and the NEET Chemistry syllabus to master the fundamentals of the subject. The Organic Chemistry section will consist of direct questions in the NEET 2021 exam.

The following are the most important topics to bear in mind:

    • Atomic and molecular orbitals, their interactions
    • VSEPR theory and its various applications
    • VBT and MOT theories
    • d-p back bonding and antibonding orbitals
    • LCAO in MOT and other concepts of basic bonding theory, hybridization, formal charges, and how to find them.
    • The atomic and chemical characteristics of halogens, chalcogens, and the nitrogen group should also be understood.
    • Acidity, the basicity of acids, and basic types such as Lewis, Bronstead, and others, as well as knowledge of their salts such as NaCl, and KCl.
    • It is essential to understand the properties of AlCl3, HgCl2, charge density ideas, atomic structure, and stoichiometric calculations.

Inorganic and Physical Chemistry- Studying from the NCERT textbooks is the finest way to cover inorganic chemistry. The key reason for choosing these books is that most examiners use NCERT books exclusively while preparing questions for the chemistry portion. Thus completely studying overall NCERT chemistry books to acquire a good mark in that subject is a good idea. Additionally, remember the following points:

    • Make time in your schedule for topics like atomic structure and chemical bonding.
    • Preparing p-Block Elements, Biomolecules, and Electrochemistry takes too much time.
    • Cover each chemical reaction and formula in detail and practise extensively.
    • Experts recommend emphasising the points that you believe are most important and that you may be asked about during the exam. You can bypass the reference books and get right to solving questions in this case. After you’ve finished the NCERT books and answered various questions, you can go to the reference books to solve more complex questions. Remember to note down any new information you find in the reference book.
