Many students aspire to clear NEET to get a seat in their preferred medical college. Since it is a PAN India-level exam, there is high competition in this exam. The aspirants need to prepare by heart for all the subjects in the NEET syllabus. Notably, for doing productive preparation for any exam, the first step for the students is to make themselves aware of two things.

The first thing is the chapters or topics in the syllabus, and the second is their weightage in the exam. When you know the important concepts, you will prepare competently to clear the NEET-UG, CUCET, NTSE, and other exams. The chapter-wise weightage makes the preparation focused and well-organised. To excel in NEET, the students must be well-versed in important topics in the NEET Syllabus. Today, we will discuss the NEET Chemistry Important Topics and Chapter-wise Weightage. It will help the NEET aspirants to clear this medical entrance smartly.

The NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is the sole entrance exam that paves the way for admission to various UG medical courses in the finest institutes in India, such as AIIMS JIPMER and more. As it is the only way of gaining admission to MBBS, BDS, Nursing, AYUSH, and other medical & paramedical courses, the difficulty level of NEET-UG is high. A student’s goal of achieving a seat in his dream college will depend on his NEET-UG scores. Those students who will prepare sincerely and strategically for the exam are the only ones who can clear it. There is a high need to stay focused.

Many students who find Chemistry a very difficult subject skip most Chemistry topics in preparation for NEET. They should not do such, as it will make you bear a loss of marks. Chemistry accounts for 25% of weightage in the NEET-UG exam. So, the students should not ignore the chapters in the Chemistry portion. The students who sincerely want to score high prepare well for Chemistry as it is a scoring subject. By giving a bit of attention and effort, students can understand the concepts.

    Fact to Consider

With the removal of the upper age limit from the eligibility criteria of NEET this year,  the examination will now be even more competitive.

The NEET Questions Paper will comprise of total180 questions, and from these 180 questions, 45 will be on Chemistry. Candidates having good knowledge of the subject can easily score around 110 -120 marks in NEET. Scoring beyond this in Chemistry is a bit demanding. For this, a candidate should have a broader knowledge of the subject.

Significantly, students know the important chapters for NEET Chemistry. Further, the weightage of each chapter will help the students to strategize their preparation for NEET.

    Chapter-Wise Weightage for NEET Chemistry

The Chapter-wise weightage helps the student prioritize chapters as per the marks they are carrying. Topics carrying more marks will be a high priority while preparing for NEET. It facilitates strategic preparation to ace the NEET.

Notably, the Chapters falling under the scope of Organic Chemistry are considered important for NEET. This section carries a high weightage in the NEET-UG. The students should have a strong base and conceptual understanding of all Organic Chemistry topics.

We have divided the chapters in the Chemistry portion into six divisions, namely Physical Chemistry I, Physical Chemistry II, Inorganic Chemistry I, Inorganic Chemistry II, Organic Chemistry I, and Organic Chemistry II.

The table below represents these divisions with their respective weightage in the Chemistry portion:

    Physical Chemistry I  17%
    Physical Chemistry II 15%
    Inorganic Chemistry I 22%
    Inorganic Chemistry II 12%
    Organic Chemistry I 8%
