KCET Ranking 2022: Karnataka High Court has decided to postpone the KCET 2022 hearing to 22 September 2022. After hearing the matter, the Karnataka HC division has decided to suspend the matter for later this week. The state High Court was scheduled to hear the Karnataka Government’s plea today i.e. 20 September regarding the KCET 2022 Rankings. A bench comprising of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice S Vishwajith Shetty postponed the hearing to Thursday, 22 September 2022.
The bench told both the parties – the Karnataka government as well as the Karnataka Examinations Authority, KEA to come up with a solution that will benefit both – the students who appeared for the KCET exam for the first time as well as the remaining students who re-took the state entrance exam this year.
On 3 September 2022, Karnataka HC ordered KEA to re-do the KCET 2022 Rankings by considering 50 percent of marks scored in the 2nd PUC exams and 50 percent of marks scored in the KCET exams. The High Court ordered KEA to consider 50 percent of the 2nd PUC marks scored by repeater students as well as opposed to the 100 percent CET marks rules which were placed for students who appeared for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test in 2021.
Students must note that KEA decided to admit students based on their marks as the PUC marks were formulated based on internal assessments and assignments due to exams being cancelled because of COVID-19. After Karnataka HC’s decision, the state government filed a plea that went against the High Court’s order and stated that such a decision would be unfair for fresher students who have appeared for the KCET 2022 exam. The hearing is now scheduled for 22 September 2022. Let’s wait and see what is going to be the final decision.
