Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2023

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test commonly called KCET is an annual entrance exam conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for students who want to get into undergraduate colleges of Engineering and Medical in Karnataka. Karnataka Examinations Authority is governed by the Governing Council headed by the Honourable Minister of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka. In 1994, the Government of Karnataka established Common Entrance Test Cell to conduct entrance examinations to decide the eligibility for admission to the first year of professional courses for Government share of seats in various courses including Medical, Dental, and Engineering. The students who wish to seek admission to Medical or Dental or Ayurveda courses must qualify for UG NEET-2023 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), New Delhi. Students who qualify in the NEET 2022 exam will only get the eligibility for admission to Medical or Dental courses through KEA for Government share of seats.

KEA has released the KCET 2023 application form on their official website - kea.kar.nic.in. Students seeking admission into various Engineering and Medical colleges in Karnataka through KCET will be required to fill and submit the applications before the deadline. Students are advised to keep themselves updated regarding KCET exam date 2023. Students who do not possess the minimum eligibility conditions will not be considered for admission.

KCET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Students seeking admission in UG engineering courses in Karnataka should fulfil KCET 2023 eligibility criteria in order to be considered for writing the common entrance exam. Students who apply for KCET 2023 must be a citizen of India. Students must have passed their class 12 or 2nd PUC examination. Students who have appeared for their class 12 or 2nd PUC examination in 2022 and are awaiting results for the same can also apply for KCET 2023. Students should have Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects in their class 12 or 2nd PUC along with Chemistry, Biology or Computer Science as optional subjects along with English as one of the languages of study. The student must have appeared and passed either SSLC or class 10 or 2nd PUC or class 12 examination from Karnataka State.

KCET 2023 Selection Process

To be eligible for KCET 2023 selection process, students must appear and pass KCET 2023 Exam. The first round will be document verification, which will be conducted in a specific help centre. Students must submit documents including KCET application form, proof of fee payment, admit card, Class 10 and Class 12 scorecards, and two recent passport size photographs. Students must submit all the required documents, post which the concerned officials will assign a unique ID and password to them after the verification process. After the document verification, students will have to attend the counselling session. At the KCET 2023 counselling session, students will be allotted seats via online mode. Two rounds of allotment along with an extended round and a special round will be announced. The shortlisted students will have to report to the allotted institutes to confirm admission.

KCET Kannada Language Test

Students hailing from Horanadu and Gadinadu areas must appear for the Kannada language test along with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths exams. The Kannada language test will be a class 4 level test conducted to check the student’s proficiency in the Kannada language. The minimum pass score for this exam is 12 out of 50. The exam will be conducted in Bidar, Ballary, Bijapur, Mangalore and Bangalore districts.

KCET 2023 Exam Schedule

Each paper consists of 60 questions carrying one mark each. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers or un-attempted questions. The exam schedule for KCET 2023 is as follows:
