Therefore, the performance of students in JEE Advanced will matter a lot to maximize one’s chance of admission to any of the coveted IITs. To begin with, students will have to have a different mindset when appearing for JEE Advanced. The questions are going to be lengthy as well as more challenging.
Holding to that thought, here are some key strategies to keep in mind when appearing for JEE Advanced.
Tips to Score High in JEE Advanced
Focus on Getting the Right Answers
Candidates must be aware that, unlike JEE Main, the total mark for JEE Advanced is not fixed. The total marks could vary between two papers. Therefore, instead of focusing on the number of questions you answer, pay more attention to the quality of the answer. Make sure that irrespective of how many questions you answer, you must focus on getting the maximum right answers. Ultimately, that is the only way to assure higher marks and lower the instances of negative marking.
Manage Your Time Well
The key to cracking any entrance examination is time management. Engineering is all about the conceptual understanding of Math and Physics and most IIT aspirants give more leverage to these two disciples. Therefore, begin answering from the Math section, followed by Physics and Chemistry. In fact, when calculating the rank of merit list, if two students secure equal marks, the candidate who has performed better in the Math section shall be given preference. Therefore, the assumption that every mark will count in the final merit list is not entirely untrue.

Don’t Feel Demotivated
The difficulty level of JEE Advanced may be a higher level, however, the syllabus is same as JEE Main. Therefore, candidates must not feel intimated by the question paper. It is extremely important to keep calm and composed. As soon as the candidates receive the question papers, they should scan through the questions and start attempting those questions to which they are certain about the answer.
As part of their preparation, candidates must have appeared for several rounds of JEE Advanced Mock Tests before. Therefore, it’s relevant to treat the main examination like any other mock test. Keep cool and answer the questions carefully. Remember that the examination shall be conducted in two parts, therefore, candidates must refrain from draining themselves. The same level of stamina and fervor must be exhibited in answering both papers.
