The uncertainty regarding Class 12 board examinations result has finally come to an end. On Thursday, CBSE submitted a 40:30:30 formula for the calculation of the theory component. This will be based on the student’s performance in Classes 12, 11, and 10, respectively.
For the practical and internal assessment component, the schools will submit the actual marks based on students’ school performance.
The formula submitted to the Hon. Supreme Court defines that the theory marks of each subject will be computed using 40% of the marks they scored in mid-term or pre-board exams held by their respective schools earlier this year. 30% will be calculated from their Class XI final exam marks, and 30% from their Class X board exam score. All scores will eventually be added to actual marks they got in their Class XII internal assessment and practical for each subject.
Adhering to the formula, Schools will prepare the final results and upload marks on the Board’s link by July 15, after which results will be declared by the CBSE as usual by July 31.
Highlights of the 40:30:30 assessment formula
- In the final assessment of the theory part, Classes X and XI performances will hold 30 percent weightage each while Class XII will get 40 percent weightage.
- Class XII marks will be evaluated based on Unit Test/Mid-Term/Pre-Board exams held earlier this year.
- Class XI marks will be based on the theory component of the final exam.
- Class X marks will be calculated based on the average theory component of the best three performing subjects out of five main subjects.
- Marks for Practical/Internal Assessment etc. will be marked by the schools based on a student’s performance throughout the year.
- A Result Committee comprising 5 members for the assessment will be formed in every CBSE school, and total marks awarded would be in consonance with the past performance of the school in Class XII board examinations.
- Students who will be found unable to meet the qualifying criterion will be placed in the “Essential Repeat” or “Compartment” category.
