CBSE 2024 Class 10 English (Language and Literature) Paper Analysis – Set 1; Code 2/1/1
- Overall the paper was quite balanced but lengthy and the difficulty level of the questions was easy to moderate.
- The questions were as per the pattern shared by CBSE in Sample Paper.
- Section A – Reading Comprehension: It carried two passages with inferential, analysis and deductive reasoning based questions. The Difficulty Level was Easy to Moderate. Questions aimed at evaluating students’ analytical skills, interpreting author’s tone and central idea of the passages.
- Section B – Grammar and Creative Writing Skills: The Grammar section consisted of direct and easy questions on reported speech, editing and gap-filling. The students found the grammar section quite simple and scoring. The writing section comprised analytical paragraphs based on a process and tabular data, a letter of complaint and a letter to the Editor. Certain questions in the writing section expected the students to critically analyze the given cues and provide their interpretation.
- Section C – Literature: The short answers were quite direct in nature, mostly similar to previous years’ board exam papers. The section was quite straightforward, requiring an extensive analysis of the chapters. The questions were a good mix of information-based, inference based, and integrated learnings of the chapters. RTC questions required careful reading. Long answer questions were competency-based and allowed students sufficient scope for creative extrapolation.
- Overall, students were quite satisfied with English Board Exam but found certain sections a bit lengthy as there was a lot to critically analyze and write.
