    It is needless to explain the importance of the CBSE 10th exam. The exam is nonetheless a turning point for the career of a student. All the students experience stress while preparing for this exam. A few tips and tricks are always helpful to ace any exam.

    Science and Maths are often discussed when discussing the preparation methods. More emphasis is given to these subjects. However, the CBSE class 10th exam has one more subject which needs preparation. The subject is Social Sciences. Social Sciences is a theoretical subject and consists of long paragraphs to learn.

    Social Sciences consists of four topics:

    • India and the Contemporary World
    • Contemporary India
    • Democratic Politics
    • Economics

    All the topics have an equal weightage of marks. Thus studying all of them is mandatory. Before starting preparation, have a look at the Social Sciences syllabus.

    • Study the syllabus first and start early

    When starting to prepare for social sciences, beginning with knowing the syllabus. Before studying the chapters, study the syllabus. 

    Get to know the chapters included in the syllabus for the CBSE 10th social sciences term two exams. Once you are well aware of the subject, start preparing without delay.

    When students read the chapters, they should write down notes for all the important points. Writing down notes will have two advantages for the students. The first advantage is that writing down is a great way to memorise things. When students write down important points, they will memorise those concepts for a long time. 

    The second advantage is that these notes will aid to have a quick revision a day before the exam.

    • Note down important events and places

    History includes various events and dates to remember, and geography involves various places. To hold on to all these points, students can jot down important dates and events and associated names on paper. They should try to write about them interestingly.

    They can also make use of mnemonics to remember such events and places.

    • Do not forget maps

    One of the most common questions in a social sciences exam is marking on the maps. And this question guarantees full marks if the student has practised maps well.

    Therefore, students must have a thorough knowledge of maps to ace this question and secure some marks.

    • Go through the NCERT solutions

    It is a fact that many questions in the CBSE class 10th exam are based on the questions presented at the end of each chapter in the NCERT textbooks.

    Social Sciences might be a boring subject for many students. Therefore, it is advisable not to study this subject when exhausted. Prepare for the social sciences exam when you are wide awake and fresh enough not to sleep again. It is thus beneficial to study social sciences either early morning after a good night’s sleep or during the day when you have had a power nap. It is also advisable to have another subject in your study schedule and social sciences on the same day and not study social sciences for the whole day as it will make studies tedious and tiring.

    3. How should I write my social sciences exam?  While preparing for the exam is crucial, it is also important to pay attention to how you write your exam. A well-written and presentable answer sheet is the key to scoring good marks in the exam. 

    Since social science is a theoretical subject, there are many long answers to be written. Students must write these answers pointwise. The answers are written and must be crisp and to the point. Highlight the important points, dates, and events wherever necessary. 

    For a better explanation of the answer, students must write all the dates, events, and places in the form of a flowchart. While marking on the maps, keep the map neat. Use a pencil for clean work. The answer sheet must look clean and presentable at the end of the exam.

    4. How to memorise the dates and events while preparing for social sciences?

    When the subject being discussed is social sciences, the first thing that pops up is dates and events. Mentioning correct dates for events in the social sciences exam is the key to scoring full marks in this subject. It is, therefore, crucial to memorise these dates and events.

    When reading the chapters from history, write down the important dates and the related events on a piece of paper. Make use of flowcharts for a better understanding if necessary.
