14th of September is celebrated as a Hindi Diwas or Hindi day every year. Many languages have been spoken in India out of which Hindi is one of the most spoken languages. Hindi was made an official language by the Central Government. On this day, people celebrate and appreciate the great works of Hindi Literature. To encourage people towards Hindi, several events are organised on this day.
Hindi Diwas: History
After India got independence in 1949 there were a lot of discussions to make Hindi the official language of India. Then it was decided that 14th September would be observed as Hindi Diwas or Hindi day. It was in the year 1953, that the first Hindi Diwas was celebrated. The reason for celebrating Hindi day is that on this day ‘A Noble and Famous Hindi Literature Vyahar Rajendra Singha’ was born.

The Hindi language acquired its name from the Persian term ‘Hind’ which means ‘the land of Indus’. The language is spoken in India, Trinidad, Nepal, Guyana, Mauritius, and various other countries.
