The Sequence of Events that Take Place After JEE Examination Results

Provisional Answer Key | Before announcing NEET results, NTA releases a provisional answer key for candidates, so that they can match their answers to calculate their marks. |

What to do After NEET 2023 Results?
Once the results are out, which are likely to be declared in the coming months, the NEET candidates’ position in the merit list will become clearer. NEET results include the details like marks obtained by a candidate. Based on the results, NTA then prepares a merit list for 15 percent AIQ counseling. Along with it NTA also shares the details about the qualified candidates from all states with the authorities for the remaining 85% of state quota counseling.
What after NEET Counselling?
NEET counseling process tends to be a little confusing for NEET aspirants which is why we thought of explaining it in a simpler way.
The first thing is that the NEET counselling is not conducted by NTA. The role of NTA is only limited to conducting examinations and result preparation. From, here different authorities come together for conducting the admission process.
The next important thing that NEET aspirants need to understand is the division of seats for the counseling process. There are four rounds of NEET Counselling:
- Round 1
- Round 2 of AIQ
- Mop-Up Round
- Stray Vacancy Round
Central or All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling
All the Central Universities like AIIMS, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) are included in this counseling process. Other than this, 15 percent of seats among all government dental, and medical colleges are also filled via AIQ Counseling. Candidates from across India are eligible for this counseling process. AIQ counseling lets a candidate from another state take admitted to a college located in a different state without any Residency or Domicile Certificate. The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), conducts AIQ counseling. Candidates who qualify for the examination are eligible to participate in the AIQ counseling, conducted by MCC.
Jammu & Kashmir has opted out of AIQ counseling, so the admissions for colleges located in Jammu & Kashmir will be via state quota counseling only.
Reservation Scheme
The following table brings the new NEET reservation criteria for OBC, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD categories under the 15 percent AIQ seats are as follows:

State Quota Counselling
The remaining 85% of seats of Govt Dental and Medical Colleges fall under State Quota Counseling. However, in-state quota the seats for candidates can only be reserved if they are a resident of that particular state. Candidates from other states won’t be eligible to participate in the counseling process if they are not a resident of that state. The state government is responsible for conducting the counseling in their respective states.
AYUSH Counselling
AACCC (AYUSH Admissions Central Counseling Committee) conducts the counseling for AYUSH. This committee carries out the admission process for all AYUSH universities in India. Along with the 15 % Government seats, Central, Government Aided, Private, and National Colleges will also be filled in this counseling.
