NEET is one of the most competitive medical entrance exams across India. Many students start their NEET preparation from class 10 onwards to make the most of their studies. But sometimes students are unable to crack the NEET exam at the first attempt so they reattempt the entrance exam multiple times.
Recently the National Medical Commission (NMC) made an announcement in which they removed the upper age limit for NEET-UG 2022 (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) which is a prerequisite in order to get admission in MBBS courses offered at best medical colleges across the country. Till 2021, the upper age cap was 25 years for general category candidates, and 30 years for reserved category candidates.
The NMC Secretary Dr. Phulkesh Kumar wrote to NTA (National Testing Agency) that “I would like to inform that it has been decided in the 4th NMC meeting held on 21st Oct 2021 that there should not be any fixed upper age limit for appearing in the NEET-UG examination. The process for official notification to suitably amend the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997 to this effect has been initiated.” You can checkout the official website of NEET https://neet.nta.nic.infor more information.
The news has lightened up the hearts of NEET UG aspirants, as the fixed upper age to appear for NEET 2022 examination has been removed. This major decision will surely benefit the aspiring medical candidates, it will also strengthen the medical education sector in India.
Many candidates were not able to appear for the exam because of age criteria, which has also been often questioned in the High Court and Supreme Courts of the country. With this new shift, the candidates can pursue different courses and still can appear for the medical entrance exam. We will keep you posted about the NEET 2022 latest updates, so stay tuned.
