The need for success mantra has always found space in the student fraternity. Though there are no definite set of rules to frame a success story that is applicable to everyone, but there are definitely ways and means that has been instrumental in catapulting students onto a successful platform. Unlikely to make up for the lost ground later, it is, thus, vital to have a well defined success mantra at an early stage. It cannot be gainsaid that hard work, effective strategies and right attitude play a key role in defining the mantra for success. However, it is imperative to understand that the path to success can be long and intimidating. We live in an age of cut-throat competition where everyone is desperately trying to outshine the other to achieve success. It is, thus, imperative to remain focused and ethical and adopt a success mantra that might aid you in avoiding the potential pitfalls that may occur in your journey to success.

So what should be your success mantra? Being kind or being mean?

Lets read and find out how acceding to them impact our life both personally and professionally.

In today’s fast paced world where everyone is so wrapped up in the rat race that they have forgotten that in real world what matters most is kindness. Being kind means listening, connecting and empathising with other people. It may be your differentiator and help pave way to a successful future. However, what is significant to note here is that you cannot be kind at your own will and neither can you fake it. You need to develop kindness by making it a part of your daily life. For that you need to be kind to yourself first. If you don’t know how to nurture yourself, it’s hard to nurture others. Moreover, kindness fosters more kindness. Having authentic interest in others well being and finding a way to help them gets you in touch with your humanity and keeps you humble and kind. Random acts of kindness such as tutoring the underprivileged kids, helping the elderly, taking care of shelter and street dogs, or giving food to the poor will not only make you feel good but also content.

We live in a world where “survival of the fittest” is the norm. Often children are taught to be the best and brightest and lead the pack that they hesitate to help their counterparts thinking they may score better than them or win their teachers praises and they themselves will trail behind. However, you should make it your duty to be kind and welcoming to those who need your help. Also, there are children who feel excluded from the group and are usually shy. You should go out of your way to help them, setting a good example for others. Further, being kind to everyone you encounter will help you reap many rewards that come from caring for and connecting with others. Thus, instead of burning bridges to attain success, you should extend your hand towards helping others get what they need. True success is achieved not by those who are smart or inconsiderate but by those who are kind to their fellow human beings. Kindness is thus a precondition to becoming truly successful.

True that kindness takes you to the zenith of success, however, unfortunately sometimes being kind becomes your biggest drawback if you try to please everyone but yourself. In this competitive world where everyone is ready to trample others for their selfish reasons, it is essential to put yourself first by being self seeking, self absorbed and treating yourself as the top priority.    Usually cast as a negative attribute, meanness has an upside when it comes to work or studies. At times there might arise a pressing need to be mean else be taken advantage of. It is then crucial that you leave no room for emotions and stop being squishy.

Adopting a mean attitude when required will keep you focussed and goal oriented. It will push your limits towards accomplishment and help you get what you want from life. So, if at times you find yourself being mean to people that’s okay. Remember that a little meanness for our own sake without causing harm to others is not bad. However, what needs to be kept in mind is not falling for it and staying kind to others and to yourself.
