JEE Main 2022 Highlights: What’s New This Year?
NTA has come up with several major changes in the JEE Main 2022 Exam. The following points enumerate the new changes related to the exam.
- No 75 percent criteria: NTA has done away with the requirements of a minimum of 75% marks in class 12 examinations.
- Numbers of JEE Main attempts: In the year 2021, NTA had presented students with four attempts for the JEE Main 2021 Exam, given the prevalent pandemic conditions at that time. However, they have reduced the number of attempts for the JEE Main 2022 exam to two.
- Negative marking: This year also has changes in the marking scheme. JEE Main 2022 will have negative marking in numerical value questions. So, questions in section B will also have negative markings. Until the previous year, only MCQ type questions in Section A had negative marking, while there was no such guideline for numerical value questions present in Section B.
- Exam cities: Applicants can choose their exam cities as per their permanent and current address filled at the time of the registration. Applicants must note that they will have only those cities that are present near their addresses that will be available for choice.
- Application correction window: Until the previous year, candidates had the option to correct their application form after submission. However, in 2022 there is no provision for making corrections in the completed application form. Therefore, all the candidates need to fill out details in the application form with utmost care.
- Exam duration: NTA has been considerate towards PwD candidates this year. The candidates of the PWD category will have 20 minutes of extra time for each section in Paper 1 and 2. Thus, they will have a total time duration of four hours.
- E-scorecard: JEE aspirants will get the PDF of their final JEE Main 2022 Result copy in their registered email IDs.
Bottomline
NTA ensures the comfortability of all JEE aspirants, and thus it releases the JEE Main 2022 Intimation of City with exam centre details beforehand. The information is valuable for students as they can make the necessary arrangements for the examination day and how they would reach the exam centre for the engineering entrance exam. The authorities do not impose their decisions; rather, they consider the students’ preferences as mentioned in their application forms. However, students need to be careful while choosing the prefered locations as they will not have the option to alter their preferences or change the exam centre after submitting the form.
