Joint Entrance Examination (JEE 2022) is one of the toughest exams, mandatory for all those aspirants who wish to pursue their career in the engineering field from NITs, IITs, or any Centrally Funded Institute. JEE Mains, conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), is a national level exam that offers admissions in B.Tech., B.Arch., B.Plan & B.E. programs.
The last date to fill out the application form for JEE Mains 2022 is 31st March 2022. NTA has already released JEE Main 2022 Notifications, including the lists of JEE Mains 2022 Exam Dates and JEE Mains 2022 Exam Centres on the official information bulletin. According to NTA’s guidelines, JEE Mains 2022 will be held in 501 Indian cities and 13 international cities.

JEE Mains 2022 Exam Centres
NTA has issued some guidelines related to exam cities and their allotments:
- Students can select four cities while filling JEE Main 2022 Form.
- Centre for JEE Mains 2022 will be allotted to the aspirant’s preference.
- Information about the address of the exam centre will be mentioned on the candidate’s JEE Main 2022 Admit Card only.
- Due to administrative/logistic reasons, a different city can be allotted.
- If there are very few candidates from a City, it is possible to merge one, two, or more cities.
Due to pandemic situations, NTA selected some new cities as JEE Mains exam centres last year. JEE Mains 2022 will be conducted in the following cities, provided there are sufficient numbers of candidates in the city:

For Paper 1:
- Section A will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type, while Section B will be Subjective Questions type.
- There will be negative marking for both Section A and Section B.

Important Instructions For The Aspirants- For Examination Day
- Candidates must report to the Examination Centre at least 60 minutes before time.
- Candidates must possess a valid JEE Main 2022 Admit Card and authorised Photo ID.
- Candidates should find and sit in their allocated seats only. Do not wander in the examination hall.
- Please ensure that the question paper must contain the same subjects the candidate has selected during registration.

FAQs
1. If I get delayed due to traffic at the examination centre, will I be able to get an entry?
No, you will not be allowed to attend the exam in such a case. NTA has given in its guidelines that ‘If the candidates do not report in time due to any reason i.e. traffic jam, train/bus delay, etc, they are likely to miss some of the important instructions to be announced in the Examination Rooms/Halls’. Also, if you are unable to appear on the scheduled date of the test for any reason, a re-test shall not be held by the NTA under any circumstances.
2. What are the documents that are a must for examination day?
The mandatory documents according to NTA’s instructions for examination day are:-
- Print copy of JEE Main 2022 Admit Card along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA Website.
- One passport-size photograph for pasting on the specific space in the Attendance Sheet at the Centre during the examination.
- Any one of the authorised photo IDs (must be original, valid, and non-expired).
- PwD certificate issued by the authorised medical officer, if claiming the relaxation under the PwD category.
- A simple transparent ballpoint pen.
- Personal transparent water bottle.
3. Is there any age limit to attend JEE 2022?
No. For appearing in the JEE (Main) – 2022, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination in 2020, 2021, or appearing in 2022 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) – 2022 examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfil the age criteria of the Institute(s) in which they want to get enrolled. And they are only allowed to take continuous three attempts. More than three attempts are not allowed by NTA.
4. If there is any problem with the provided system, then can we get help in between the exam?Although the possibility of this case happening is almost zero. But, if you face such a situation then ‘YES’ you will get help. You have to approach the Centre Superintendent/Invigilator in the room for any technical assistance, first aid emergency, or any other information during the course of the examination. You will also be able to get help from Invigilator in the room if the subject of the Question Paper is other than your opted subject.
5. If there is a tie in total scores between two candidates, then how does NTA decide the ranking?
- If there is a tie between candidates in their total score, then NTA follows the given steps to resolve this issue:
- NTA checks the score of each candidate in their separate subject one by one.
- After that, a candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the Test will be checked.

- After that, the age of the candidate is verified.
- After that, the preference will be given to the Application Number in ascending order.
6. What are the reservation criteria according to NTA’s norms for JEE 2022?
- For JEE 2022, the categories and the extent of the reservation are given according to the Government of India’s rules. These are as follows:
- General category belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (GEN- EWS) – 10% of seats in every course.
- Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL) – 27% of seats in every course.
- Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats in every course.
- Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats in every course.
- Persons with Disability (PwD) – 5% seats in each of OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST category seats.
