Difficulty Level of the Questions:
Out of 200 questions in all, 60% of the questions were moderate, 20% were difficult, 5% were easy, and 15% were downright tricky!
Type of questions asked:
As per our analysis, out of 200, 45-50 of the questions were clinical-based, 40-50 were one-liners, 50 were image-based, 30 were integrated, and extended matching around 25. There were about 30-40 direct repeats but a good number of questions approximately 160 were from repeated topics asked previously
There exam had a mixed bag of MCQs, checking the basic understanding of each subject of the students, and the revision strategy of each student must be based on Previous year questions and topics
Number of Attempted Questions:
According to our survey, Out of 200 questions, the majority (almost 80%) of the candidates could attempt 150-200 questions, approx. 14% of them could attempt 100-150 questions, whereas only 6% of the candidates were able to attempt 50-100 questions.
The exam was a little lengthy but the students with good conceptual clarity & ‘PYQ-thoroughness’ could complete all the questions on time
Subjects with High Weightage:
The following subjects had a ‘high weightage’:
- Medicine
- Surgery
- Pathology
- OBG
- PSM
- Anatomy
Difficult questions were mainly from Pharmacology, PSM, and Ophthalmology. ‘Tricky’ questions were all over the place!
Time Management:
Time management is one of the most challenging aspects of the exam. According to our survey, a majority of the candidates found the allotted time of 3 hours sufficient to answer all the questions.
How to approach upcoming exams:
Based on the analysis of this INI CET May exam, we would like students to focus on ‘going deep’. This means you have to know your theory in detail. You obviously can’t do that for the full textbook.
