Taking a proper diet directly affects our exam performance. A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Therefore, be clear whether your child has healthy eating habits or not? And are they eating enough to concentrate well in exams? Eating healthy is essential for students in order to score better in exams. Skipping meals and eating unhealthy junk food can be harmful for your child’s performance. Our human body needs all the essential nutrients to function properly and that is why it is imperative to have healthy eating habits.

All the students who are preparing for NEET/JEE or any other competitive exams must eat healthily and stay hydrated to focus better.

    Why is breakfast important?

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day and a great way to refuel your body with all the essential nutrients. Skipping your breakfast will make students feel tired and restless which can affect their performance in exams. Eating healthy also excites the mood and keeps the children active.

Some of the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast are:

    • Increases your metabolism
    • Helps in maintaining a healthy weight
    • Enhances your mood and lowers stress
    • Boosts thinking power
    • Improves memory

What to be included in your child’s breakfast?

Our brain requires some of the essential nutrients to perform efficiently. Our brain utilizes around 35% of all vitamins, 20% of glucose, 40% of water and 50% of all the fat from our body. Brain foods are the food products which are good at nourishing the human brain and provide all the essential nutrients. Foods that are high in carbohydrates, fat, and protein are chiefly good for our brain.

Some of the most essential and easily available brain foods that you should feed your kids are:

    • Nuts
    • Apples
    • Blueberries
    • Pumpkin seeds
    • Green vegetables
    • Turmeric
    • Eggs

Water is an essential drink that is must to be included in your child’s routine. Make sure your child drinks at least three to four liters of water every day. If your child is dehydrated, it will lead to a loss of concentration and result in headaches. Even if they do not feel thirsty, ask your child to drink water at regular intervals. Drinking fruit juice is also an excellent way to fill up essential nutrients and will help your child in better concentration. You are advised to avoid caffeine intake as it increases nervousness.

On a concluding note, it can be stated that eating a healthy breakfast improves the concentration skills. Therefore, make sure to give your child a balanced diet to enhance their cognitive skills. Make sure you intake foods with low sugar and high fiber cereals. Most of the grains are enriched with high vitamin and mineral content which contributes to the growth and development of a child. If a child skips breakfast, it replenishes their blood sugar which further disturbs their mental abilities. Light up your child’s mood with their favorite breakfast on the morning of their exam. A student needs all the proper nutrients to function better. Also, weeks before an important exam make sure your child has started sleeping well. Getting enough sleep is as important as eating a healthy diet. Simply follow these tips to do well in your exams. All the best!
