In India Gurukul, Pathshalas and Maktabs has been into existence from the ancient era. But a country known for its culture preservation, has readily accepted eLearning over chalk and talk. In fact, according to Yourstory, India is one of the top three marketplace for online education in the world. The reason being that, over the years, digital learning has adopted all the elements of classroom to enrich online experience.

Let’s take a look at those aspects on which people have trusted and preferred eLearning over traditional form of classroom learning:

    1. Attend Lectures Online

Many of them hate reading those thick books and rather prefer taking notes while listening to their teachers. Those notes are their savior when exams are around the corner. The teacher-student interaction can now take place from home itself. This is one of the biggest reason why students have started moving to online learning. Growing number of live classes similar to Aakash Live, has helped students to understand the concept without taking the hassles of commuting to classroom.

    2. Clarify doubts online

Everyone has those days in their life when they used to raise up their hand to grab that attention of teacher for clearing the doubts. While solving questions or reading a chapter, there are array of doubts that strikes student’s mind. Doubt clearing is very crucial to get the concept right and it can be done only with the help of a teacher. But today’s digital learning has even made this possible. You can put forth your doubts to your teacher online and get it resolved then and there with live interaction.

    3. Network with other Learner

If not teacher then we all have that sincere classmate who used to solve our doubts or help us in understanding a concept. Today almost every digital learning tool has a platform like community or forum where different learners can reach each other online and participate in doubt clarification, lecture discussion, take exam tips etc. Thus, even this aspect has been fulfilled by digital learning.

    4. Performance Support

Our teachers often give feedback on our weak areas while handing over the answer sheet. Similarly, to this, even in online assessment one can track study hours, score of other learners and areas of improvement. Some of the elearning tools like Aakash iTutor comes with a performance dashboard which includes all the metrices for performance improvement. The students can enhance their preparation and work on their weaknesses based on the report generated in the performance dashboard.

    5. Meeting Between Parents & Teacher

Discussing student’s academic progress with parents is an inevitable part of classroom education. Even on online tools, a live video call is arranged between the teacher and parents to discuss as well as find solutions on the academic problems of the student. Thus, helping the parents to plan accordingly for their child’s future. This is an added advantage to the above performance support as the teacher will share the feedback with both parents and students.

Even though online learning fulfills the above aspects of classroom education. Yet it is not fair to conclude that eLearning wins the race. But the idea is to communicate the progress of digital learning since its inception and how it has matched a classroom environment. Its time to break the mindset of those learners who perceive classroom learning to be superior to digital learning.
