Almost 26 lakhs medical, engineering, and allied program candidates took these entrance exams in 2021.
JEE Main online exam is attempted by school and college students in order to get admission in prestigious engineering universities and be eligible for JEE Advanced (a gateway ticket to IITs). The number of attempts granted to JEE aspirants was elevated in 2019, from one to two, and then two to four in 2021. Many candidates benefited from taking multiple entrance exams and benefited from it, as they were given many chances to improve their final JEE score.
In the discussion, the official member mentioned that the reason for granting 4 attempts was because of the COVID. Also, board exams this year have also been delayed, shrinking the window for entrance exams. The Class 12th board exams will take place from April 26 onwards, and the entrance exams will be taking place from the last week of April.
