Excessive heatwave all across the country has become a serious concern and due to the prevailing conditions, school timings have been revised in many parts of Uttar Pradesh such as Lucknow and Prayagraj. With the temperature going over 40 Degrees Celsius, schools in many regions have taken precautionary measures to keep students safe. Keeping in mind the impact of the intense heatwave, many schools based in Uttar Pradesh decided to revise their school timings citing the health concerns of the students.
The schools will carry out their academic functions early in the morning and close by 12-1 as per the official notice.
In Prayagraj, schools will function from 7 AM and close at 12 PM for Classes 1 to 8. Lucknow schools for classes 1 to 8 will operate from 7.30 AM to 12:30 PM and for Classes 9 to 12 it will operate from 7.30 AM and close at 1.30 PM. The decision to close schools early has been announced due to the prevailing heat conditions which can affect the health of kids traveling to school every day. The school timings in Lucknow have been changed for primary, pre-primary, government, aided, and private schools.
Lucknow recorded 42 degrees Celcius on April 18, 2023, and above 40 degrees was recorded in Agra, Aligarh Bareilly, Etawah, Firozabad, Ghaziabad, Jhansi, Kanpur, and a few more.
Also, Tripura, Odisha, and West Bengal have also decided to close schools for students due to the intense heatwave. School timings in Patna were revised as the temperature touched 40 degrees. The Patna Minister requested the schools and Anganwadi to carry out academic activities only till 12.45 PM. The prevalent heat wave and temperature in the district can risk the health and life of children hence the DM directed the schools to close by 10.45 AM. Schools in Jharkhand have also revised their timing.
As the temperatures continue to soar across the country, the Government has issued some guidelines to help students & parents check the excessive heatwave. In addition to this, students and parents are also advised to keep having a sufficient amount of drinking water and avoid going out in the sun.
