NEP 2022 Implementation Review: On 7th May, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired an important review meeting to draw up a roadmap for the implementation of the National Education Policy. Apart from the Prime Minister, Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan was also a part of the discussion session. During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi discussed the National Education Policy Implementation Roadmap, including key aspects such as the combined education system, the implementation of the National Curriculum Framework, and the UGC Dual Framework.
NEP 2022 aimed at Inclusivity, Equity and Quality: PM Modi
During the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the main goal of the National Education Policy 2022 is to achieve equality, inclusiveness and quality in the education sector. He also instructed ministers and officials to prepare a detailed plan for the implementation of projects and other important initiatives to achieve this goal.
Prime Minister Modi also emphasized the development of hybrid learning models for students that can be used for both online and offline learning systems to avoid overexposure of technology to children. Her also stated that the practice of regular student health checkups should be adopted using technology-based solutions. Further, he suggested that high schools with science laboratories can partner with local farmers to conduct soil research to raise awareness regarding soil health.
NEP 2022: Key Initiatives at School Level
As per the details shared, the National Steering Committee headed by ex-ISRO chairman Dr. K Kasturirangan has been tasked with the responsibility of developing the National Curriculum Framework, NCF. The framework, which is primarily being targeted at school students and will help them to get quality education. At the meeting, PM Modi also reviewed implementation of key initiatives at school education level including ECCE in Balavatika, NIPUN Bharat, Vidya Pravesh, examination reforms and innovative pedagogies like Art-Integrated Education, toy-based pedagogy. These initiatives have helped bring out better learning outcomes and holistic development of children.
Nep 2022: Key Initiatives at Higher Education Level
Higher Education has been the prime target area of NEP 2022 policy. In the meeting, PM Modi discussed various Entry and Exit Options for College Students and Implementation of Academic Bank of credit. Also, the 2 Degree Programmes proposed by UGC were looked upon by the officials. Additionally, the National Higher Education Qualification Framework (NHEQF) was also reviewed by the Minister.
Another key learning module discussed in the NEP 2022 meeting was the Multi-Modal Education Framework which has been an integral part of the NEP 2022.
