As per the latest exam pattern, students have to appear for NEET for medical and dental education, JEE Main for admission to engineering courses, and CUET for admission to degree courses in science, humanities, and commerce in various universities. If the proposal is accepted by the authorities, students would be then required to appear for one examination.

Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate has become one of the biggest entrance exams in the country. UGC is currently working on a proposal to integrate the engineering and medical entrance exams into the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG). UGC Chairperson M Jagadesh Kumar stated that under the proposal, instead of appearing for the four subjects, that is, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, in three separate entrance exams, students will be able to give the exam once and be eligible for and explore different fields of study.
According to the new proposal, it is being discussed integrating all the engineering and medical entrance examinations to lessen the burden of students in appearing for multiple entrance examinations based on the same knowledge. “The students should have one single entrance examination, but multiple opportunities to apply among the disciplines.

As per the latest updates, the chief objective of merging the entrance exams is that students should not undergo the stress of multiple examinations when being tested in the same subjects. All those candidates who would like to go into engineering their marks in mathematics, physics, and chemistry can be used as a ranking list and similarly for medicine. If they don’t get into medicine or engineering, under CUET they will still have the opportunity to join different programmes using the same marks in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and so on. Therefore, the demand for students to appear for a single exam is what they are waiting for.
Stay tuned for the latest updates.
