Paper Pattern & Analysis
The exam was of moderate level with a mixed bag of MCQs which was essentially to check the integrated knowledge of basics with well oriented clinical knowledge. Though most of the questions were lengthy with big clinical scenarios, but we have always emphasized on the need to look for those key hints in the question to clinch the answer. For example a long MCQ on Gauchers disease was asked with multiple images given/terminology like oil immersion field used but the fact is that the only hint required to answer the question was the characteristic image of crumpled tissue paper appearance. Many questions were direct repeats and focus was yet again on high yield topics which have been repeatedly asked in previous year exams also. (for example-Vitamins, Inborn errors of metabolism. Wernicke’s encephalopathy even under the effect of alcohol you should be able to answer!!!).
