At the age of 18, Chirag Falor achieved the highest rank in Joint Entrance Examination Advanced 2020 (JEE-Adv) by obtaining an impressive score of 352 out of 396 among more than 1.6 lakh students.
The IIT-JEE entrance exam undoubtedly ranks as one of India’s most challenging assessments. Every year, thousands of aspiring students strive to conquer this formidable test, harboring dreams of securing admission into prestigious IITs nationwide. However, amidst this ambitious crowd, there exist individuals who, despite successfully passing the exam, choose a different path. Pune’s own Chirag Falor is one such exceptional case.
Remarkably, Chirag Falor emerged as the JEE Advanced exam topper in 2020. Nevertheless, he made the conscious decision to forgo admission into an IIT. His reason? He harbored a burning desire to pursue his education at the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, an aspiration he had already fulfilled by securing a coveted spot at this prestigious institution.
Pawan Kumar Falor, Chirag’s father, currently holds the position of Software Development Manager at a renowned software company. He shared, “Chirag’s fascination with planets and stargazing dates back to his childhood, beginning around Std V. Recognizing his passion and aspirations, we wholeheartedly supported him. His dedication to research and relentless pursuit of his goals have always been evident. Chirag applied to MIT and successfully secured admission. He will continue his journey with MIT, working towards his ambitions in the field of space sciences. Chirag approaches everything with unwavering commitment, focusing wholeheartedly on his endeavors without hesitation. While the JEE posed a formidable challenge, his relentless dedication earned him a well-deserved merit ranking. In 2019, Falor clinched a gold medal at the 13th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA). Additionally, he secured the top position at the American Mathematics Competition in 2019. These remarkable achievements underscore his exceptional prowess in these fields.
