Last year optional questions were introduced in JEE Main entrance exam by NTA, according to the latest notification from National Testing Agency, the optional questions will still continue to be there in JEE Main 2022 but these questions will be having negative markings.
NTA quoted on Tuesday that JEE Main 2022 entrance exam will be conducted twice a year in April and May respectively. Last year there was no negative marking in optional questions, which gave students a breather but the latest update of negative marking to take place has left students with anxiety.
The JEE Main paper has two sections for each subject, in section A there are 20 MCQ-type questions which all are mandatory. As per section B, there are 10 numerical questions, out of which students have to answer only five. This is applicable for both paper 1 and part 1 of paper 2. The negative marking will take place for both A and B sections. For every question present in section B students have to enter the correct value with the help of a mouse and virtual keyboard.
NTA introduced optional questions last year in order to rationalize the syllabus cut by various boards. Though the board exams are also taking place this year students will still be able to manage their JEE Main 2022 exam, as the syllabus of board exams has nearly reduced by half this year.
