Preparation Tips to Score More in JEE Physics

There is fierce competition among candidates seeking admission to the I.I.T.s. To ace the JEE Physics examination, you must be well-versed in the syllabus and, in particular, the important chapters. IIT JEE Physics is the most challenging subject to master. If you are a JEE aspirant, knowing preparation tips for JEE Physics is crucial.

    • Take effective notes in class

A high-scoring student thoroughly comprehends the underlying principles and practical class notes. The human brain can only retain a small amount of information. Given the vastness of the JEE syllabus, it’s very likely that a concept will be forgotten or incorrectly applied. Students must take notes on all important facts connected to any topic in class and use the notes effectively during last-minute preparation.

    • Practice more numerical problems

Once your basics are cleared, practice more numerical problems. Numerical problems help strengthen the application of a concept and lower the risks of an incorrect application. JEE Main examination is all about the practical application of the topics presented in the class. It is important to avoid rote learning and instead focus on applying concepts rather than memorizing data.

    • Familiarise yourself with a variety of questions

The more questions you complete during practice sessions, the quicker you will answer questions in the examination. If students have solved a more comprehensive range of problems, they will apply the concepts to unfamiliar questions. As a result, working on a wide range of questions increases the chance of securing a good rank in the JEE examination.

    • Improve your analytical abilities

Your analytical skills develop if you can develop many solutions to the same problem. Keep your mind sharp by solving puzzles and riddles. You will have an advantage over others on the exam day if you are quick to grasp questions and figure out how they should be answered. The key to passing the exam is accuracy while still retaining speed. The amount of questions you practice directly affects your speed and accuracy.

    • Solve exam papers from past years

Solving up to 10 years’ worth of old papers might assist students in anticipating the types of problems that the NTA will ask on the exam. Students might find a pattern in previous years’ question papers. This helps in revising the most important topics to a large extent.

In JEE Physics examinations, over 70% to 80% of the questions are asked again. If candidates have solved question papers from the previous 10 to 15 years, they will have no trouble passing the entrance test.

    • Organize your time

It is important to know how to manage time effectively. Make each second count! Follow these simple steps, and your dream of cracking the JEE examination will come true.

    • Optimize your time properly

Please make a list of the three most essential things you want to achieve for the day and do your best to complete them. It would not only help you in avoiding distractions, but it would also give you a sense of achievement.

    • Reduce the amount of time you spend on your smartphone

It is better to discard your smartphone! However, given the importance of smartphones in our daily lives, it is difficult to avoid them. When you have some spare time, take a look.

    • Stay completely focused!

The current JEE statistics show that competition is fierce. You need to attend school, tuition, and coaching sessions during your preparation. Managing everything with the same level of commitment is difficult. When you’re learning a topic, give it your full attention and make sure you understand everything you need to know for the examination. If you try to learn a topic for both the board and the JEE separately, you will wind up having to re-learn it several times. Instead of focusing on the topics you don’t know, simultaneously prepare for both boards and JEE.

    • Create a study schedule

A good method is to devote two hours every day to study physics. For 1.5 hours, study the theory and concepts and solve numerical problems. Keep the next thirty minutes for revision of the previous day’s reading.

As we know, revision is extremely important. Set aside one hour after three days of studying to review what you learned the previous three days. After all, “The key to remembering anything is revision.”

    • Attempt more mock tests

From 2018 onwards, the National Testing Agency has made free mock tests for JEE Main and past question papers available for students to practice on its official website. The following are the steps to accessing the mock tests:

    • Visit the NTA’s official website at www.nta.ac.in.
    • Select the ‘Students’ tab from the menu.
    • Select ‘Mock Test’ from the ‘Test Practice’ option.
    • Select your exam, such as JEE Main 2022, choose the paper you wish to try, and then click ‘Start Mock Test’.

To access past year’s question papers:

    • Click Downloads on the menu to retrieve previous question papers. Previous year’s test papers can be found there. Select the year and examination you want to download, as well as the paper you wish to download.
    • Examine your attempted mock tests

Whenever you take a mock exam, you must review it the same day to look for errors and areas where you may improve. During your test preparation, keep a book and write down all of your doubts and mistakes in it. It is also recommended to write down solutions to your doubts and errors. When you doubt, you must work extra hard since you must first unlearn the assumption and then re-learn the correct concept.

    • Develop effective studying habits to score more in JEE Physics

One hour of productive study a day can make a big difference in your JEE Physics preparation.

    • Always make a note of the difficult concepts that took you a long time to grasp, as this will help you quickly return to them during revision.
    • Practice Physics daily. Maintain a healthy balance of difficult and simple topics.
    • Study difficult topics and concepts when you are most productive.
    • To study for lengthy periods, a small break is required.
    • Drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet.
    • If you want to study in a group, surround yourself with others who share your interests.

Frequently Asked Questions On How to Score More in JEE Physics

Q1. How difficult is JEE Physics?

Ans. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are the three topics included in the JEE Main Paper. JEE Main Physics is a subject that many students struggle with. An analysis of the Physics JEE (Main) paper held in 2020 showed that 52 per cent of the questions were easy, 36 percent were medium, and 12 percent were challenging. The examination paper gave chapters like Mechanics, Electromagnetic Induction, and Heat & Thermodynamics more weight. The Physics section is scorable if the candidates understand and practice the concepts well.

Q2. Are NCERT books enough to score more in JEE Physics?

Ans: No, since the JEE Physics exam includes conceptual questions, you can’t study those topics just from NCERT.

Here are a few best books for JEE Main Physics:

Name of the book and author Features of the book
Concepts of physics (Vol. 1 and 2) by H.C Verma Quality problems on all topics
Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday, Resnick & walker Concepts of all the topics
Understanding Physics by D C Pandey (Arihant Publications): Set of books for

    • Electricity & Magnetism
    • Mechanics (Vol. 1 & 2)
    • Optics & Modern Physics
    • Waves & Thermodynamics
Explanation, Derivation and question set of solved/unsolved problems

Q3. What role do mock exams play in improving your JEE Physics score?

Ans. Mock exams are extremely important for students. These examinations ensure that students are well-prepared for the final exam’s projected paper design. Attempting additional JEE Physics mock examinations would aid applicants in improving their speed and time management abilities.

Q4. How important is the 11th-grade curriculum to score more in the JEE Physics Examination?

Ans: The class 11th curriculum is just as crucial as the class 12th syllabus for JEE Physics Examination. The pattern and exact weightage of class 11th topics in JEE Physics Examination cannot be predicted because it changes every year. As a result, it is preferable to treat it as equally vital.

Q5. How can I select the best JEE Physics study materials to improve my score?

Ans. While there are several study materials in the market, choosing the right physics material is critical. Candidates should always select study materials that are aligned with the exam format. Because time is such an important issue in JEE Physics preparation, students must use relevant materials that provide clear explanations of ideas and JEE-based tasks. As a result, they will be able to study more effectively.
