The national-level olympiad examinations, which were scheduled for January 9 and 16 have been postponed and rescheduled. As for the ones that were supposed to happen on 23rd January, the decision will be made after a few days, keeping the COVID-19 situation in mind. This announcement has left almost one lakh school and college students curious, desperately waiting for the next update.
The Indian Olympiad Qualifiers in Arithmetic (Class 10, 11,12, and college students) and the Indian Olympiad Qualifiers in Junior Science (Class 9 and 10) were scheduled for January 9. Whereas The Indian Olympia Qualifier in Biology and the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Physics was scheduled for 16th January 2022.
The decision to postpone the exams was made only after numerous states introduced new rules and regulations which also included travel guidelines. As an Olympiad crew member, Professor Ankit Sule also stated that the decision was made only in regards to the closure of faculties in numerous states along with the weekend curfew.
He also stated that these restrictions have made it super difficult to conduct the examination in offline mode. In addition to it, he also told that the organizing committee had already acquired many requests from school and college students whose college/school buildings have been sealed after the new restrictions. The new dates for the olympiad will only be introduced after the current situation improves.
Earlier the olympiads were held in the three-stage course, but in 2021-2022 they were restructured to be held in a two stage-course, which includes the Indian Olympiad qualifier, adopted by an orientation-cum-selection camp. The subjective type paper and target sort check, which were earlier conducted individually have now been merged. But the COVID-19 has enforced the Worldwide Olympiad to conduct the exam in online mode, this will be confirmed by March.
