    1. Know your subjects and syllabus

Start with knowing your subjects and the syllabus for each of them. Stick to your syllabus book. It is always better to know your weak points. Always start with the toughest subject first so that you do not panic at the last moment. Be confident about the subjects you love. Be aware of the chapter-wise weightage of marks for each topic. Having a clear understanding of your syllabus will give you a view of the topics to be studied.

    2. Have a schedule to follow

Once you know your syllabus, prepare a timetable for studying. This might be old advice you get from almost every other person you speak to, but time management is surely the key to success on all fronts of life.

Allot time for every subject depending on its difficulty level. Prioritise the topics according to their weightage of marks. Manage the time you have to cover all the subjects. Don’t just have a schedule, have a realistic schedule that you can, and you should follow. Remember, every person on this earth has got 24 hours in a day, but the efficiency in utilising these 24 hours makes the difference.

    3. Be smart with your learning techniques

Everybody develops certain learning techniques over time. However, you should always know some smart learning techniques to help you study faster and efficiently.

    • We have already talked about time management. But that does not mean you study for long hours. Doing this will exhaust you and may create problems for grasping things.
    • Study for short durations with small breaks in between to relax.
    • Group studies is a great idea to overcome certain doubts and motivate yourself.
    • Use learning devices like mnemonics for memorising equations formulas while studying science or mathematics. They can also be used while learning certain events from history.
    • Allot time according to marks-wise weightage.

    4. Focus on concepts

Learning long answers might feel like a tough job. But when you focus on concepts, you don’t need to spend much time learning the answers. When you are well versed with the concepts you study, you can write the answers in your own words.

Focusing on concepts will also prepare you to answer the multiple-choice questions. Learning the concepts thoroughly will help you remember them for a long time and lessen your revision time. Just keep in mind to clear the doubts by talking to your mentor when you have difficulty understanding a concept.

    5. Practice well

Another old piece of advice is “Practice practice till you succeed “. This is, however, the best advice. Learning and revising are important, but practising is of utmost importance. Practice the NCERT and NCERT examples very well. Solve the sample question papers available on the NCERT website. This will give you an idea of the pattern of the exam. Also, try to solve the questions in the set time. This will help you increase your writing speed. Try to solve as many numericals as possible for science to increase your speed. Always appear for the pre-board exam with complete preparation.

There are ample benefits of solving CBSE Sample Papers and previous year’s question papers during your board exam preparation. They give you an idea about the format of the question papers along with the breakup of marks as per each question.

    6. The way you write your exam is crucial!

Not only how you prepare for your exam, but the way you write your exam also matters. It would help if you were very particular about writing your paper.

Your answers must be crisp and to the point. Pay attention to the flow of your answers. Your answers must be structured. Add headings and subheadings in your long answers. Underline the important points you want to highlight.

While answering the questions in your science exam, draw proper diagrams or flowcharts for relevant questions. Diagrams add the effectiveness of the answer you write. Let the rough work you do be visible on the paper for mathematics problems. It should, however, be displayed neatly in a box on the right side of your answer sheet page. Your answer should look perfect at the end of the exam.

    7. Prioritise your health

To appear for your exam, you must stay healthy. Focus on your health while preparing for the exam. A balanced and hygienic diet is a must for staying healthy. Stay away from junk and spicy food. Stay hydrated all the time. Avoid having beverages that contain caffeine. Add fruits to your diet.

Do not deprive yourself of sleep. Try to get a sound sleep of 8 hours to keep your body healthy. This is to be followed, especially the night before the exam, so that you are fresh while writing the exam. Sleep deprivation can make you tired and exhausted.

Relax your mind by meditating every day. You can also try music therapy. This will help you stay fresh. Do not stress yourself thinking about the exam. Stay positive and motivated. Stress will only add to the hurdles in your path to success.

    Summary

Although the board exam is an important milestone for your career, it is similar to writing any other exam. Just be sure to cover the entire syllabus for your subjects with proper time management. Hard work and smart work are the combinations you need to follow.  Concentrate on your health as well while working to achieve your goals. Being stressed is not going to help you. You have to be focused and motivated. Stay positive and work hard. Remember, this exam is not the end of the world, but it can surely be the beginning of the career of your dreams.
