    NEET 2018

NEET 2018 will be conducted by CBSE on May 06, 2018. The medical entrance exam is conducted by CBSE for MBBS/BDS seats in the finest Government and Private colleges across the Country. Hugenumber of students appear for NEET after months of preparation. From day of NEET 2018 notification students start to look up for guidelines to fill up the NEET 2018 application form, best books and guidance for preparation. No doubt, students strive hard to score well in NEET to get admission to the college of their choice, but they still end up making a few mistakes. Though the mistakes made during NEET 2018 exam preparation can be corrected, but it is almost impossible to correct the blunders done during the exam. Check five common mistakes made by students during NEET exam and ensure that you don’t repeat them.

Mistake 1:  Misreading or misinterpreting the question

Due to nervousness or to attempt maximum number of questions in the limited time, students usually misread the question or misinterpret it by just reading the half question. It might help you answer more questions, but at the same time it causes more negative marks for wrong answers. So, make sure you read every single word in the question carefully and understand it well before marking your answer.

Mistake 2: Making a careless mistake, such as reversing the number or marking the wrong answer

Correction: Go slow;remain calm, collected and composed during the Exam. The only way to be confident in the exam is to prepare well. Your preparation begins on the first day of classes and it involves learning effectively by managing the given time.

Study well in advance and don’t leave anything for the last moment

    • Properly go through NEET 2018 syllabus. Pay attention to chapter wise weightage, important chapters and topics. Checking previous years’ question papers is a right way to get an idea of important questions.
    • Some chapters and content need more help to be understood. Take full advantage of technology in the form of personal classes, recorded video lectures on specific topics and doubt clearing sessions.

Mistake 3: Deliberately skipping topics, classes or questions

Correction: Skipping a class is no smart option. Undeniably and undoubtedly, there will always be some new knowledge that you will gain in every class for sure. For any national level entrance exam, every minute thing counts. A small test, small homework, small explanation, small summary is a form of revision that will help you in the long run.

Your teachers, with a blend of their education, experience and years of commitment and hard work get a fair idea of what can be asked in the exam. Teachers themselves prepare their class beforehand with important tips and tricks, simplified and condensed notes. Their teachings will not only help you understand the subject matterbut will also refine and polish your brain to think, process knowledge and produce a response.

Mistake 4: Leaving a topic for the exam day

Correction:Make a preparation Strategy incorporated with periodic and repeated review and revision sessions. This will give you more time to absorb the information and more opportunity for improvisation. Never make a mistake of leaving a topic for the exam day as it will only confuse you and make you more nervous.

Whatever you study, you must stop often and think over it. Use your spare time such as walking or doing any other task by recalling and recollecting whatever you have studied.

Mistake 5: Not keeping a track of time

Correction:Not keeping a track of the time is one of the common mistakes, students make on the exam day. One of the best ways to avoid this mistake is to take as many mock tests as you can. It will help you understand the exam pattern and make a strategy accordingly.

NEET 2018 is a crucial exam in every candidate’s life. Don’t let the opportunity skip through your hands just because of some silly mistakes.

    NEET 2018 Study Tips

    Use Study tools

    • Start with a subject you like:  Take turns with other subjects. Do an easy subject followed by a hard subject. Read one Chapter, Revise the other and Practice MCQ’s for another. Do not be stuck at one subject/chapter at a stretch.
    • Keep testing yourself: Do not measure your preparation in terms of numbers of hours put in, instead count the numbers of MCQ’s you were able to attempt correctly. Count the number of chapters which initially scared you but are now your strengths. Analyze the answer key, your errors. Keep note of the corrections, identification of concept/keyword and how to proceed through the question.
    • Solve your problems and doubts by taking help of your friends and teachers: You can take help of live interactive classes who will attend to your doubts and also reinforce your knowledge.
    • Write notes: Put your understanding into words by writing short, simplified and condensed notes. Your notes are your easy to read version and your way of internalizing knowledge by writing. Being unable to write notes is a good sign that you have not understood the chapter/concept.
    • Writing notes is dynamic:  You tend to keep on updating them whenever your knowledge is refreshed after review and revision.
    • Teach and talk out the concept: Try to explain it in your own words and as per your understanding. Read out the chapter/concept words loud. It activates your brain as you are reading and ingraining the words, as well hearing the words simultaneously. It also improves your visual memory and ability to picture things in mind.
    • Add some colour: Use highlighters for keywords, Use coloured diagrams to understand better. Use colours to remember different conventions.
    • Use mnemonics

Kings Play Chess on Fairly Soft Velvet is mnemonic for Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species, and Variety.

    Apply analogies (Lungs=Trees, Pump=Heart)

    • Use your memory
    • Understand it
    • Get into the short-term memory
    • Remember, Recall, Revise, Refresh, Repeat
    • Reflect and think over it

You won’t learn anything new by any efforts applied just once. It’s going back to them and thinking over and again. This will help form their roots and branches with other concepts.
