If you aspire to pursue a career in medicine from acknowledged colleges in India, you have to clear the NEET exam. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is one of the most important entrance exams for medical students. NEET has replaced all other medical entrance exams like AIPMT, and other state level-medical exams along with the ones which were earlier held by private medical colleges.

In 2018, the government assigned NTA (National Testing Agency) the responsibility to conduct NEET, and other entrance examinations, which were earlier conducted by CBSE to balance out things, reduce the workload, and enhance transparency. During the Initial years of the NEET exam, it was only applicable in colleges like AFMC, BHU, and AMU, whereas AIIMS & JIPMER were still allowed to conduct their own individual entrance exams. But in 2020, JIPMER & AIIMS were also included under the NEET examination.  Do you also want to pursue your medical career in India and study from a well-acknowledged? We have prepared a detailed blog for you enlisting all the key benefits of the NEET entrance exam.

    1) You Only Have to Appear for One Medical Entrance Exam

Earlier students had to fill numerous application forms and travel to multiple cities for giving various medical entrance exams. Along with the students, parents also had to adjust their personal and professional engagements in order to accompany their children. This not only took a mental, financial but also the physical strain on the student as well as their family members. But with NEET all these worries have vanished as the whole process of application to results is done online. NEET takes place in every state, students have to fill only one application form and give the exam where they reside. NEET score is applicable in every medical college in India, even in the most prestigious ones like AIIMS & JIPMER.

    2) NEET Exam Has Brought Transparency

Earlier a lot of students could not get a seat in MBBS or BDS even after being capable just because a hefty amount was charged by medical colleges in the name of donation. NEET examination has minimized any scope of such malpractices so that any deserving student would not have to compromise with his/her career. It applied to both private and government medical colleges.

    3) Candidates From Economically Weak Backgrounds Can Avail NEET Scholarships

There are many government and private colleges that offer a number of NEET scholarships in order to support candidates from financially weaker backgrounds. NEET coaching itself is very expensive, and medical courses like MBBS can also take a toll on a parent’s bank account. A lot of students also drop their dream of being a doctor only because of the high fee, despite being capable. This is why NEET scholarships were introduced so that every candidate gets equal opportunity.

    4) NEET Exam Takes Place In different Languages

Gone are the days when a student had to be proficient in Hindi or English to be eligible for attempting an entrance exam. As keeping the diversity of India in mind, the NEET examination is conducted in 13 languages including Hindi, English, Gujarati, Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, and Urdu. The candidate can select their desired language accordingly.

    5) Students Will Get More Time To Solve The NEET Question Paper

Earlier in medical entrance exams like AIPMT Prelims Test, students were supposed to solve 200 questions in 3 hours. On the contrary, when it comes to the NEET examination, a student has to solve 180 questions in 3 hours. NEET question paper has fewer questions, so students get enough time to solve the paper, and cross verify it. They also stand a better chance of scoring well on attempting the NEET exam.

NEET is one of the most difficult medical entrance exams but it is worth your time and energy as it lets you get admission to the most prestigious medical colleges. The best part of this exam is that if you don’t clear it on the first attempt, you can always re-attempt it.

Also, the NEET counseling process is also about to begin in January 2022, read this blog for more updates on NEET counseling 2022.
