In an exceptional demonstration of academic prowess, 28 students from Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL) branches across the nation have achieved qualification for the Orientation Cum Selection Camp (OCSC) and International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) of the esteemed Indian National Olympiad (INO) 2024 in various disciplines including Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Junior Science.
Within this distinguished cohort, 14 students have secured their place in OCSC for Biology, 2 in Chemistry, 3 in Astronomy, 4 in Junior Science, and 5 in IMOTC. This year, an impressive tally of 344 students from Aakash have earned qualification for various INOs.
Mr. Anup Agarwal, Chief Business Officer of Aakash Educational Services Limited, expressed his elation, stating, “We take immense pride in the remarkable achievements of our students who have qualified for the Indian National Olympiad. Their success underscores the exceptional talent and dedication that our students consistently display on the national platform. This accomplishment stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment, bolstered by the unwavering support of our esteemed faculty and parents. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the students and wish them continued success in their academic pursuits.”
The INO examination, administered by the Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (HBCSE), serves as the second stage of the International Olympiad qualification in various scientific disciplines and the third stage for the International Mathematical Olympiad. The INO stage for Junior Science is overseen by IAPT. Participation in the INO is open to students who have excelled in the National Standard Examination (NSEs) (the first stage of the International Science Olympiad) and the Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) (the second stage of the International Mathematical Olympiad).
Based on their performance in the INO, approximately 30-35 top-ranking students in the merit list are chosen for OCSC/IMOTC. For Science Olympiads, participants undergo both theoretical and experimental sessions during the camp. The selected members of the Indian team then undergo an intensive training regimen at HBCSE, encompassing both theoretical and experimental components. HBCSE has dedicated special laboratories for experimental training purposes. As for the Mathematical Olympiad, the training camp includes various tests to prepare students for the IMO, followed by an 8-10 day rigorous Pre-Departure Camp (PDC) for the selected team. The qualified students are trained by resource persons from HBCSE and various institutions nationwide. The culmination of the Olympiad program involves the participation of Indian students (4-6 in each subject) in the International Olympiads.
