    The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the JEE Main 2022 exam dates for the first phase. The applicants can download the JEE Main 2022 Admit Card from the 2nd week of April 2022. NTA has made several changes for JEE 2022, such as JEE Main 2022 Eligibility, JEE Main 2022 Exam Pattern, etc. However, one of the most crucial changes includes the applicant’s dress code guidelines.     JEE Main 2022 Notification for Dress Code

    If you are here, it means you will take the JEE Main 2022 this month. There have been a few strict changes to what candidates can wear and what accessories are allowed inside the examination centre for JEE 2022.

    Being aware of these changes saves you from the unnecessary hassle and problems faced on JEE Main 2022 Exam Dates. Although these changes are minute, if they are overlooked, they might add to the anxiety and tension of candidates. Therefore, it is crucial to know all these changes to avoid last-minute problems.

    JEE Main 2022: Dress Code by NTA

    Before taking an in-depth look at the dress code for JEE 2022, take a brief look at the JEE Main 2022 Registration and JEE Main 2022 Exam Pattern.

    JEE Main 2022 Phase 1

    JEE Main 2022 Registration Date 1st March 2022 to 31st March 2022
    Release of JEE Main Admit Card 2nd week of April 2022
    JEE Main 2022 Exam Dates 16/04/2022 to 21/04/2022

    JEE Main 2022 Phase 2

    JEE Main 2022 Registration Date 8th April 2022 to 3rd May 2022
    Release of JEE Main Admit Card 3rd week of May 2022
    JEE Main 2022 Exam Dates 24/05/2022 to 29/05/2022

    The given table provides a brief overview of JEE Main 2022 Exam Pattern:

    Mode of JEE 2022 Online/Computer-based exam

    As JEE is around the corner, all the bright minds must be loaded with revising JEE Main 2022 Syllabus to improve their score to earn a high position in JEE Main 2022 Rankings. First, however, you need to pay attention to one little detail of what is allowed inside the exam centre and what is an approved dress code to take JEE 2022.

    Candidates can wear comfortable clothing as per their choice. But they need to avoid any metallic accessories, shoes with thick soles, caps, or other headcovers. Scarves and stoles are also not allowed inside the centre unless they are a part of customary apparel. However, candidates who wear Karas due to religious reasons need to report to the centre 1.5 hours earlier to the commencement of the exam to talk to the authorities.

    JEE 2022: What male candidates can wear? 

    All the male candidates need to adhere to the following mentioned guidelines to get easy and hassle-free entry into the examination centre:

    • Male candidates need to avoid wearing a piece of cloth with metallic accessories attached to it. This includes any metallic trims or belts with metallic buckles. These items get detected during the screening process and cause unnecessary trouble to applicants.
    • A cap, bandana, muffler, or other headcovers are not allowed inside the centre. However, candidates accompanied by someone to the centre can hand over these items before entering the main gate.
    • Accessories like bracelets, rings, and goggles are not allowed inside the examination hall. In addition, any ornament or jewellery is strictly forbidden by NTA.
    • Candidates who wear clothes with deep pockets, layered drapes, large buttons, and big sleeves must go through a strict checking process. Therefore, to avoid unnecessary wastage of time and hectic checking, you should consider wearing light and comfortable clothes with minimum design elements.
    • Wearing deep sole shoes might be comfortable for your feet but not during JEE Main 2022 because candidates need to face the heat of the lengthy checking process. Therefore, you must consider wearing simple slippers. 

    JEE 2022: What female candidates can wear?

    All the female candidates for JEE Main 2022 need to consider the below-mentioned dress code to smoothly pass the screening and avoid any hassle during entering the examination centre:

    • All the female candidates should wear lightweight clothes with minimum layers of fabric.
    • Generally, the authorities prefer plain jeans, leggings, T-shirt, or a kurta to ensure minimum checking is required.
    • Wearing any metallic accessories or even the underwired bras and belts can land you in the strict checking queue. Therefore, you must avoid such clothing items.
    • Candidates must avoid wearing any precious ornaments, rings, goggles, etc., to the centre.
    • Try to avoid any headcovers like caps, hats, or fancy scarves and bandanas.
    • Clothing such as hoodies, jackets, and trench coats is strictly prohibited.
    • If you wear bulky long-sleeved shirts and large buttons or pants with deep or multiple pockets, you will face a strict and lengthy screening process.
    • Avoid wearing shoes with deep soles. Rather go for simple and comfortable slippers or sandals.
    • Hair buns or any other complex hairstyle are not allowed inside the examination hall. Therefore, you need to keep your hairstyle as simple as you can.

    JEE Main 2022: COVID-19 Protocols

    Since everyone is still dealing with the deadly COVID-19, NTA has listed certain guidelines for the safety of candidates and all concerned authorities. These guidelines are as follows:

    • All the candidates need to wear a mask to the examination centre. Masks should not be replaced with any handkerchief or bandana.
    • Candidates need to sanitise their hands properly before entering the examination centre.
    • Social distancing should be maintained without fail.
    • For the safety of candidates, all the computers will be properly sanitised after every shift. Moreover, the invigilators will be wearing masks and hand gloves to ensure hygiene inside the examination hall.

    JEE 2022: Guidelines for Diabetic candidates

    NTA has issued the following guidelines for Diabetic candidates:

    • They can carry fruits like oranges, apples or bananas in a transparent box.
    • They can carry sugar tablets inside the examination hall. Moreover, they are advised to look after their health during the exam to avoid health issues.
    • They are forbidden from carrying any packed food items like chocolates, biscuits, juice, etc., inside the examination hall.

    JEE 2022: What is Prohibited Inside the Examination Centre 

    Following are some items that candidates must not carry to the JEE 2022 centres:

    • Wallets or handbags
    • Metallic objects
    • Electronic gadgets like cameras, mobile phones, calculators, smartwatches, etc.
    • Any edible items or opaque water bottles.
    • Stationeries like notebooks, paper, etc. However, the B.Arch candidates can carry erasers, a geometry box, a pencil, a crayon set and coloured pencils for paper 2.

    JEE 2022: Important Guidelines for Candidates

    Candidates must follow the below-mentioned guidelines for JEE Main 2022:

    • Candidates should visit the exam centre an hour before the commencement of the exam to avoid any hassle. For this, they are advised to get familiar with the transport system and location of the centre a day before the exam.
    • Candidates should avoid participating in unfair means of answering a question during the examination.
    • Students need to have a physical copy of their ID proof, photograph and admit card. Without these documents, they won’t be allowed inside the centre.
    •  None of the candidates will be permitted to take a re-exam under any circumstance,

    JEE Main 2022: Things you need to carry to the Examination Centre

    All the candidates need to carry the following things to the centre to take JEE Main 2022:

    • One passport size photo, preferably the one you uploaded for JEE Main 2022 Form.
    • Printed JEE Main 2022 Admit Card.
    • One photo ID proof includes Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, PAN, Passport, or Driving Licence.
    • One 50 ml hand sanitiser 
    • Transparent ball pen.
    • PwD candidates need to provide a certificate issued by the government to get the benefits of the Pwd category.

    JEE Main 2022 Preparation Tips for Exam Day

    Learning all the topics of JEE Main 2022 Syllabus, solving JEE Main Previous Year Question Papers, and having a good command of the basics are imperative for all the aspirants. However, even after having a solid preparation, many aspirants fail to perform in JEE Main AIR Rankings because they cannot handle the anxiety and pressure before the exam. Therefore, it is crucial to look consider the following factors along with the revision of the syllabus:

    • Remain hydrated and take some time out for meditation.
    • Keep all the necessary items ready for the exam
    • Eat healthily and take sufficient rest a day before the exam.

    FAQs on JEE Main 2022 Dress Code Recommended By NTA

    1. Do turban-wearing candidates need to go through a specific checking procedure for JEE 2022?

    There is no specific checking for turban-wearing candidates. However, if they attach any metallic accessory to it or wear other accessories like rings, sunglasses, etc., they may need to go through a strict checking process. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid unnecessary accessories at the JEE centre.

    2. Can candidates wear gloves for hygienic purposes to JEE examination halls?

    Candidates can wear gloves to follow the COVID-19 protocols. However, they must consider wearing only surgical or transparent plastic gloves. Any woollen or fabric gloves are strictly prohibited inside the examination centre. Candidates who wear such gloves need to face the last minute trouble of going through lengthy and strict screening procedures before entering the examination hall.

    3. Is it necessary for candidates to wear the same clothes as they are wearing in the passport size photograph?

    The candidates don’t need to wear the same clothes as in the photograph. They can wear any piece of clothing that is lightweight and simple. However, they must not wear any metallic accessories or unnecessary fancy items. Moreover, it is also recommended that candidates carry a recent photograph and must not change their hairstyle or hair colour before appearing for JEE.

    4. Are candidates allowed to carry a handkerchief to the JEE exam centre?

    Candidates can carry a handkerchief to the exam centre for their comfort. However, they need to note that the handkerchief must not be too large or thick. A standard sized cotton handkerchief is sufficient for candidates. However, anyone found with an extra-large handkerchief might face cross-checking by the examination authority before entering the examination room. Therefore, candidates must carry a simple, not textured standard handkerchief for JEE Main 2022.

    5. Can I tie my hair using a hairband to take JEE Main 2022?

    Candidates are allowed to wear headbands to tie their hair. But they need to make sure there are no metallic rings or beads attached to it. Moreover, candidates should also avoid metallic clips or hair accessories in the centre. Candidates are advised to tie a pony using simple elastic headbands with zero attached accessories to avoid any problems.

    6. Can applicants carry a notepad to do a rough calculation for JEE 2022?

    Candidates aren’t granted to carry any paper or notepad inside the examination hall. However, the centre provides writing sheets to students for rough work and calculation. They can ask for an extra sheet if they require it. Moreover, candidates cannot take these sheets out of the examination room. Therefore, before leaving the examination centre, all the candidates must submit these rough sheets back to the invigilator.
