The IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) are the best and most prestigious engineering colleges in India and they are again on the list of top Law and Management Institutes. Did you know? The IIT was established in Kharagpur in 1951 followed by IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Delhi.

There are a total of 23 IITs in India and the total number of seats available for UG is 13376. All IITs are linked to each other via the IIT council for overseeing their administration. Every year MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) releases its latest rankings for IIT in India through the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework).

As per NIRF 2021, IIT Kharagpur ranked as the fifth-best institute for Law Education and IIT Delhi ranked as fifth-best for Management. If we look at the previous year’s ranking, IIT Kharagpur has dropped from fourth-best (in 2020) to fifth-best ( 2021) in Law, whereas IIT Delhi has improved by five ranks in the Management Category. But when it comes to engineering IIT Madras has outperformed and created a history by ranking as first IIT for the third time in a row.

IIT Madras has ranked number one for both “Overall” and Engineering Category in NIRF ranking list 2021.

Here are some broadly defined parameters based on which MHRD-NIRF ranking is based:

     5) Research and Professional Practice

Eight out of 23 IITs have ranked amongst the top 10 of the MHRD-NIRF 2021 rankings. As per NIRF 2021 ranking, the top 10 engineering colleges from IIT in the country are:
