Born on May 7, 1861, to Dependranath Tagore and Sarada Devi, Tagore was an author, poet, playwright, philosopher, artist and painter who made an important contribution to nation building. Not only did he change the map of Bengali literature in India, but he was also the backbone of the Indian freedom struggle through his music and poetry.
