It has been a week after the Chandrayaan-2 was aborted due to a technical glitch, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) finally today has launched India’s second mission to the Moon on July 22 at 2.43 pm.
What makes the mission all the more interesting and special is that the Project Director and Mission Director are both Women Scientists Muthayya Vanitha & Ritu Karidhal from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), India’s leading scientific organization, leading the country’s space programs. Their work isn’t over until Chandrayaan 2 lands on the moon in September later this year. Let’s take some inspiration from their great stories of perseverance and success.
Muthayya Vanitha (Project Director – ISRO Chandrayaan 2)
Being in her 40s, Vanitha had a notable career at the ISRO and this great chandrayaan 2 task is just another achievement for her. Muthayya has become the first-ever women project director at ISRO, breaking barriers like never before. In addition to this, Vanitha has also won the Best Woman Scientist Award of India in 2006 and has also played a key role in the success of Mangalyaan in November 2013.
Ritu Karidhal (Mission Director – ISRO)
Ritu Karidhal is commonly named as the “Rocket Woman” of India. She was also the deputy operations directions for the Mangalyaan project in 2013-2014. She was working very closely with Muthayya Vanitha all throughout the Chandrayaan 2 Mission. Also, she has been taking a leading role since the time the spacecraft has been taken off from the earth.
Take inspiration from these great women achievers who have made India proud and always get inspired and follow your dreams. If you are ardent about anything, make sure you go for it and fight through the problems.
