Lacs of students compete every year for IIT-JEE, one of the toughest and challenging examinations held in the country. The much hyped exam creates tremendous pressure on students that they toil even harder to achieve their goal. Despite that, they tend to make mistakes. Hence, just grasping the concepts does not suffice and it is, thus, imperative to deploy unconventional and strategic methods in order to smoothly sail through the exam. A fair idea about the common mistakes committed in the exam and ways to handle them can definitely give you an edge over others.

Here is list we must avoid these Mistakes in IIT-JEE

        Incorporate A Systematic Exam Strategy
Planning and strategising is one of the key attributes that students fail to keep in mind during the examination. You should aspire towards allocating adequate time to the different sections of the paper and leave the portion that you are saddled with for the end.In addition, keeping abreast with the time will stand you in a good stead. You should also deter from dedicating too much time to a single question and diligently work towards completing the paper in a hassle free manner by implementing a systematic and comprehensive strategy.

Never Ever Pull An All Nighter
Staying awake the night before the exam can be detrimental to your health and have unforeseen pitfalls during the exam. You might find yourself stuck in a limbo, unable to decipher the question paper.Going without sleep can also lead to lack of focus, lethargy and accentuate stress levels. It is, thus, imperative to get a full night sleep in order to be fully charged for the exam.

        Turbulence Before the Exam
Right before the commencement of the exam, a majority of students are seen in every nook and cranny of the examination centre discussing questions, formulae and other essential concepts. Such discussions add fuel to the convoluted minds. It further leads to chaos and confusion and leaves you crippling with problems. You should rather be complacent of yourself and focus on your goal than jeopardise the whole preparation.

        Manage Your Exam Anxiety
Considering the unpredictability and the arduous nature of the question papers, anxiety is a common trend among students. The pressure to perform and lack of confidence in one’s abilities seem to baffle the students. You should, thus, learn stress management and keep a tab on your strengths and weaknesses in order to fight your anxiety.

        Meticulous Reading
Deciphering questions become a herculean task when students fail to comprehend the question in the exam. This ensues when students often in hurry pay no heed to the thorough reading of the questions. As a result, they fail to register the key information stated in it and fret later. You should, thus, deploy meticulous reading habits leaving no room for errors or doubts.

Refrain from Procrastinating the Longer Questions
Apprehensions regarding the precise solution to the questions lead to skipping of lengthy and tough looking questions. Often students fail to perceive that procrastination leaves them grasping for time in the end. You should, hence, try to logically and analytically approach questions before going past them.

        Manage Rough Sheets
Managing rough sheets is a substantial but daunting task during the exam. However, what is more taxing is to ascertain which solutions cater to which particular question. Subsequently, students have to frantically search all the sheets, thereby squandering a lot of time. You should, thus, organise your sheets by marking them appropriately which would further assist you to refer to them as and when required.

        Mark OMR Sheet Discreetly
Marking the OMR Sheet impulsively is one of the common blunders often committed by students. They tend to linger on the marking of the answers towards the end. Consequently, they are left with no time and end up marking the options incorrectly. You should refrain yourself from committing such errors and focus on marking the OMR Sheet simultaneously and discreetly.

        Be Cautious and Not Overconfident
Overconfidence is one of the important determinants to success.  It sometimes tends to build walls around the mind, thereby restricting your thinking abilities. It not only suppresses but also undermines self analysis abilities. Instead, adopting a cautious approach will definitely help you cruise through the exams.

        Consider Eliminating the Options
The pressure to perform is said to continuously hover a child’s mind leaving him/her bewildered in the exam. As a result he/she is unable to settle for the correct answer out of the available options. In such a scenario, you should shift your focus from locating the correct option to eliminating the wrong options first. This approach would not only take you to the right answer but will also help save your precious time.

Mistakes are regarded as stepping stones to success. They help you review your weaknesses by analysing them critically and assist you in chalking out a well planned strategy for the impending exam ahead. Sometimes looking at the mistakes of others helps you to circumvent them and you can learn to rectify yours.
