The JEE Main 2024 session 1 examination will take place on January 24, 27, 29, 30, and 31 and February 1, 2024, at various centres across the country. The exam will be held in two shifts, from 9 AM to 12 PM (morning shift) and from 3 PM to 6 PM (evening shift) in various test centres across the country and abroad. Students enrolled for the IIT JEE Main 2024 session 1 examination must thoroughly read all the important guidelines and instructions that the NTA (National Testing Agency) has provided for the exam day. It is advised that candidates be relaxed and cheerful on the day of the exam and give it their best shot. JEE Main 2024: Things to Carry on the Exam Day
You need to carry the following items before leaving for the examination centre:
- JEE Main admit card 2024 along with self-declaration
- A simple transparent ballpoint pen
- Additional Photographs to be pasted on the attendance sheet
- Personal hand sanitizer
- Personal transparent water bottle
- Special Privilege: Diabetic students will be allowed to carry eatables like sugar tablets/fruits and transparent water bottles to the test centre. However, packed food items like chocolates/candy/sandwiches will not be allowed.
JEE Main 2024: Things Not to Carry on JEE Main 2024 Exam Day
Here is the list of items that students are not allowed in the JEE Main examination centre:
Stationery Items:
Do not carry any stationary including pen, paper, pencil, textual material (printed or written material) pencil box, geometry box, etc. Pen/Pencil and blank paper sheets for rough work will be provided in the examination room.
ID cards:
ID cards issued by schools/colleges/ universities/ coaching centres will not be considered valid IDs. Even photocopies or images stored on mobile phones will not be accepted.
Eatables:
Do not carry eatables (loose or packed) and water inside the exam hall. These will not be allowed.
Electronic/ Gadgets:
Any metallic item or electronic gadgets/devices will not be allowed in the exam hall. This includes a Mobile phone, Ear Phone, Microphone, Pager, Calculator, DocuPen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Camera, Tape Recorder, etc. Aspirants will also not be allowed to wear/carry any type of watch including Electronic watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item, or electronic gadgets/devices in the Examination Hall/Room.
Handbags:
Candidates will not be allowed to carry any kind of handbag or purse.
JEE Mains 2024: Tips to Follow on the Exam Day
Mentioned below are the JEE Main exam day guidelines for D-Day which every candidate needs to adhere to:
- Candidates are advised to reach the venue in accordance with the reporting time mentioned in JEE Main 2024 hall ticket.
- No candidates will be allowed entry into JEE Main 2024 exam centre after gate closing time and candidates will not be allowed to leave the exam centre premises before the exam concludes.
- Candidates wearing any special attire due to religious reasons are advised to reach the exam centres earlier in order to undergo thorough checking and mandatory frisking.
- The candidate must carry admit card of JEE Main 2024 along with all the documents to carry for JEE Mains to the exam centre. A candidate who does not possess the NTA JEE Mains hall ticket 2024 will not be permitted for the examination under any circumstances by the Centre Superintendent.
- Before reaching the JEE Main exam centres, candidates have to duly fill out the self-declaration form, paste their passport-sized photograph, and put the left-hand thumb impression in the space provided.
- Candidates must follow the instructions strictly as instructed by the centre superintendent/invigilators.
- Social distancing must be maintained by the candidates.
- Candidates should take their seats immediately after the opening of the examination hall. They can log in and read instructions, before the commencement of the exam.
- A Pen/Pencil and blank paper of rough work will be provided in the examination hall. Candidates must write their name and roll number at the top of their sheet. This sheet needs to be returned to the invigilator before leaving the examination hall.
- Candidates need to enter the required details in the attendance sheet, put signatures, and paste photographs at the designated place.
- Candidates need to ensure that their left thumb impression should be clear and not smudge on the attendance sheet.
- Candidates claiming PwD reservation must carry PwD certificate issued by the competent authority to the exam centre.
Things to Remember on JEE Main 2024 Exam Day
- Visit your JEE Main exam centre a day before the exam to familiarise yourself with the location and assess factors like time and distance.
- Ensure you reach the test centre at least half an hour before the reporting time mentioned in your JEE Main 2024 Admit Card. Candidates, reporting after the gate closes, will not be allowed to enter the test venue. Candidates will be undergoing various mandatory processes, thus reaching on time is important.
- Candidates must write their name and roll number at the top of the sheet and must return the sheets and admit card to the Invigilator, before leaving the exam hall.
- Enter your required details in the attendance sheet in legible handwriting, put your signature, Left Hand Thumb Impression, and paste the Photograph at the appropriate place. The Left-Hand Thumb Impression is clear and not smudged.
- Attempt the paper with a relaxed mind. For this, you would need adequate rest and enough sleep before the final day of the exam to avoid strain and anxiety.
- Have faith in yourself and before going off to sleep create your virtual picture of successfully completing the exam. This practice helps in reducing your stress levels and infusing confidence.
- Take a shower and go fresh to the examination centre.
- It is extremely important to keep your body and mind in balance on the day of the exam. Therefore, take a light breakfast on an empty stomach might also stimulate anxiety.
- Just before appearing for the exam, you may go through your notes once. But, do not refer to any new question or topic. This is highly prohibited as it’ll increase your stress level which can have a negative impact on your performance. But you can check out some of your flashcards or revision notes.
DO’s and Don’ts for the JEE Main Exam 2024

Documents Required on JEE Mains 2024 Exam Day
As per JEE Mains Exam Day 2024 guidelines and instructions, here are all the documents needed:
- Admit Card
- Valid class 12 board mark sheet for those who have cleared the class 12 board exams
- For those who have opted for improvement tests in 2024 – valid admission card or hall ticket for Class 12th Board or qualifying examinations.
- Valid admission card or hall ticket for class 12 board exam or qualifying exams for those who have yet to attempt Class 12 board or qualifying exams.
- All candidates will need to send one of the above-mentioned documents, as per the category you fall under to ensure that you can sit for the JEE Mains 2024 exam. If you are unable to provide the aforementioned documents, then your exam might be cancelled.
- Last but not the least, you must listen to the rules and regulations provided by the exam invigilator before the exam.
- Avoid any unfair means like passing chits or talking while writing the exam as it might lead to punishment or debarment.
JEE Main 2024: Exam Hall Instructions
- Candidates were advised to fill up the admit card properly only after reading the necessary instructions.
- Each candidate should report to the examination hall before the time allotted for the examination to avoid confusion.
- Candidates with physical disabilities bringing their scribe should bring all necessary documents mentioned by NTA.
- Each candidate should carry 50ml hand sanitiser.
- During the time of entry, candidates should keep in mind to maintain at least six feet of distance between each other.
- Candidates should sanitize their hands with the sanitiser provided in the examination hall.
- Candidates were requested to remove their masks and use the mask provided at the centre. The centre supplied each candidate with a fresh three-ply mask before entering the examination hall.
- Candidates were advised not to bring any banned items to the examination hall.
How to Mark Attendance When Appearing for JEE Main 2024?
JEE Main aspirants will be required to enter the required details in an attendance sheet provided by the invigilator. They will have to put their signature and left-hand thumb impression on the attendance sheet provided. Candidates are also required to paste their coloured passport-sized photograph which should be the same as that in the application form.
JEE Main 2024: Admit Card
NTA releases the JEE Main 2024 admit card a few days before the exam. Candidates will be able to download the JEE Main admit card from the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. Students need to enter their application number and password/date of birth to download their JEE Main 2024 admit card.
How to Download the JEE Mains Admit Card?
Follow the below mentioned steps to download the JEE Main 2024 Admit Card:
- Visit the official website of NTA.
- Click on the portal showing the sign-in or log-in option.
- Insert your credentials and log in to the portal.
- Your admit card will be shown on the screen.
- Download the admit card and take a printout of the same. Keep it safe with you for future reference.
- Check all the details thoroughly mentioned in the admit card. If any of the information is incorrectly printed on the admit card, do not hesitate to contact the authorities.
JEE Main 2024: Guidelines on Admit Card
- Candidates must check their JEE Main 2024 admit card carefully for their Name, Paper, Date of Birth, Gender, Test Centre Name, City, State Code of Eligibility and Category. In case they find any discrepancy, immediately communicate to JEE Main conducting authority.
- In case candidates are unable to download the admit card they need to contact JEE Main authorities at 0120-6895200 or mail at jeemain@nta.ac.in.
- JEE Main admit card 2024 will be issued provisionally to the candidate subject to his/her satisfying the eligibility conditions.
- Along with the JEE Main admit card, candidates will have to carry the following items to the examination centre keeping regard with the COVID-19 pandemic:
- One original valid photo identity proof issued by the government (PAN card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar card with photograph, E-Aadhar, Ration Card, Aadhaar enrollment number with photo).
- One passport size photograph (same as uploaded with the online application form of JEE Main 2024).This photograph will be required to paste it on the attendance sheet at the centre.
- Duly filled in self-declaration form (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA Website.
- A transparent Ball Point Pen.
- Personal hand sanitizer (50 ml).
