The eligibility cut-off for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024, necessary to qualify for the IIT entrance exam — JEE Advanced — has reached a five-year peak across all categories. The minimum cut-off percentile for general category candidates in JEE Main 2024 stands at 93.2. This marks an increase from 90.7 in 2023 and 88.4 in 2022. For other categories, the cut-off percentiles for 2024 are: 81.3 for EWS, 79.6 for OBC, 60 for SC, and 46.6 for ST.
Comparatively, in 2023, the cut-offs were 73.6 for OBC, 75.6 for EWS, 51.9 for SC, 37.2 for ST, and 0.0 for PwD. In 2022, the JEE Advanced cut-offs were 67 for OBC, 63.1 for EWS, 43 for SC, 26.7 for ST, and 0.0 for PwD.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) typically announces the cut-off list based on several factors, including the number of test takers, the difficulty level of the JEE Main question paper, average performance in the exam, and available college seats. Utilizing these metrics, the agency determines the minimum scores required for admission to various engineering colleges. Each year, the top 2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main qualify to appear for the IIT entrance exam.

In the current year, a total of 56 candidates achieved a perfect score of 100 percentile in the examination. The exam spanned from April 4 to April 12, covering 319 cities across India and an additional 22 cities internationally. The total number of participants reached 1,067,959, with 738,351 being male, 329,600 female, and 8 identifying as transgender.
To prevent cheating via mobile networks, Jammers were deployed in all exam centers, aiming to thwart any unfair practices by candidates using mobile or other electronic devices. For the first time, state-of-the-art 5G Jammers were installed at all examination venues. The National Testing Agency (NTA) also enforced stringent measures to uphold the integrity of the exam, including multistage verification, biometric authentication, EKYC, and thorough frisking of candidates, invigilators, and other personnel involved, ensuring the examination’s fairness.
