The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 registration is underway. All the eligible candidates can apply for JEE Mains 2024 on the official website – jeemain.nta.ac.in. The last date to apply for the BTech entrance exam is November 30. National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct JEE Main 2024 session 1 exams from January 24 to February 1. Through JEE Main 2024, engineering institutes such as the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) will offer admissions to BTech programs. While computer science engineering leads the BTech kingdom followed by electronics and communication, electrical, and mechanical engineering, the institutes have been launching new courses based on the increasing demands of the students in the industry.
New BTech courses Offered
Whether it’s at a central university or private colleges, a slew of new engineering programs have emerged in recent years, each with admission opportunities through the JEE Main exam. For instance, last year, Delhi University’s Faculty of Technology introduced three BTech programs, namely BTech Computer Science and Engineering, BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering, and BTech Electrical Engineering, all of which admitted students based on their JEE Main scores.
Notably, NIT Karnataka launched a pioneering engineering program specializing in artificial intelligence during the academic year 2021-22. On a similar note, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) unveiled a distinctive BTech program that combines computer science and financial technology, offering it through three academic departments: Humanities and Management, Computer Science and Engineering, and Mathematics.
Expanding its curriculum, MIT also introduced new BTech programs, specifically BTech in Mathematics and Computer Science and BTech in Electronics Engineering, emphasizing VLSI design and technology. Meanwhile, IIT Delhi has set its sights on launching a BTech program in Industrial Design by the year 2025. Furthermore, in 2021, IIT Delhi rolled out a BTech program in Engineering and Computational Mathematics, with admission routes through the JEE Advanced exam. Prospective students qualifying for the JEE Main exam will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.
In 2022, IIT Guwahati entered the scene by initiating a fresh BTech program in energy engineering, an offering from the School of Energy Science and Engineering. This diversification of engineering programs underscores the evolving landscape of engineering education in India.
